"Why is it such a bad thing to identify with a gender? Yes I agree that forcing pink on girls and blue on boys is an outdated principle but everyone seems so obsessed with non gender theses days. " I quite agree.I'm quite certain that the majority of little boys like being boys and the majority of little girls like being that way.The majority of people grow up being happy to be either men or women. Some do not and are not happy and their needs do need to be met but denying all the other children the chance to grow up in a way that makes them happy is no way to do that.

"I'd rather celebrate the difference in the sexes and promote equality of opportunity. " Exactly. There's a BBC series currently running on gender identity in 7 yr olds and an attempt to change it. The scariest things was that the ONLY emotion 7 yr old boys could express was anger! Horrifying! I fear many grown men suffer an imbalance too.

This BBC documentary soaked what I had read around the research area for when looking into salient identities and how ways to change it through steriotypi g and stigmatising It was not necessarily for my dist but interesting. They did not do the ramp test. Most parents put the ramp lower for the child to crawl for baby girls compared to baby boys even though they are both mentally and physically the same at that age.

Google sweden and genderless, A "genderless" society: swedens experiment ... in an effort to reach a greater level of gender equality, the country of sweden is pushing for gender neutrality " One thing I fear if this takes off is that we may reach the end of another extreme I am all in favour of Schools and parents teaching this (boys doint have to be mucho, women have been to passive and underestimate their performance), and no just because he is a boy/girl do not force z behaviour on to them. But I fear the extreme of represive beahviours in order to acheive the end desired goal and eliminate gender inequaulity, Such seen in the victorian error.

"http://www.scarymommy.com/twitter-face-paint-male-violence/ This example at the weekend made me think perhaps we should be looking at better ways to move away from gender stereotyping. I often struggle to express emotions that are more complex and considered by society to be feminine rather than human. We lost one of the young guys we work with to suicide couple weeks back and I can't help thinking if he'd felt more comfortable to talk about the complex feelings and emotions he was feeling he might still be with us" Yes, both very sad.

That is right too if it dont go too far with an experiment, for examples the teachers avoid using the pronouns "him" and "her" when talking to the children.

Experiment Gender equality Gender is built into our DNA! Well actually know Gender = Social Differences Sex = Physical differences " Gender has since the 14th century been used in both contexts. Gender fluidity is multi faceted and is often self defined or defined by reference to the sex of an individual. I have no problem whatsoever with gender equality... The poster made the point that firstly it's an experiment and secondly it's about gender equality...that alone infers that genderless is nothing more than an attempt to bring about gender equality. If genderless existed then there would be no need to attempt to bring about gender equality.

For the sake of a Clear Scientific clarity so people do not get confused when making arguments People who do sicentirifc reserch often use the terms Sex to mean biological differences (as cleary Denoted by science) and gender: describes the characteristics that a society or culture delineates as masculine or feminine. gender has no natural biologican effects denoted from brith (athoguh you could argue a certain evoloution theory) where as Sex does.

"I'd rather celebrate the difference in the sexes and promote equality of opportunity. Exactly this . But we have a long way to go to promote equality in children's minds, I have done my part to the best of my ability. " Children are born with equality in their minds. You watch a group of toddlers and how they interact with each other and others around them. They see no colour, creed, gender, sexuality or religion. Inequality unfortunately is a concept we learn as we traverse our way to adulthood through this society.

"If we go down this road, and promote a gender neutral society , are we going to also accept a society that ultimately no longer procreates ? Surely a man fancies a woman and they reproduce due to the said attraction ? If ultimately men don't see women as any different they won't be sexually attracted to women and this would lead to the end of humanity ! Let's celebrate men fancying men , women fancying women , both fancying both and continue to help those born into the wrong body . But to stigmatise nature and it's way is just daft ." I don't gender neutral teaching is going to affect natural attraction in any way whatsoever. It's not about not seeing the sex of a person, it's about accepting their identity and not enforcing stereotypes such as bots play with tractors and do practical stuff and girls play with dolls and do housework stuff.

"I just want to chip-in and say all female participant sport in the UK is infinitely more passionate and immeasurably more entertaining to watch than all male participant sport .... " . Alas in a genderless society there'd be less of them. Certainly none at the Olympics, no tennis players, no footballers, no runners, no cyclists.... Still theres always beach volleyball
