In my mind that means you're a bit of a snob if you class yourself as such.

I like good food and good wine, I also like really simple food. One of my favourites in winter is beef mince with onions and gravy on buttery mashed potato. Not sophisticated at all but really good.

Yes, I would say discerning, not sophisticated. I love good food of any ilk and can't stand pretention.

Cheese and chive flavour crisp sandwich, with brown sauce on, suggests mine is probably not particularly sophisticated.

No and I don't want one, some days I would like a finely cooked fillet steak surf and turf dinner, other days I want cheesy beans on toast

I don't drink alcohol now but when I did I couldn't tell one wine from another in-fact if I was drinking blindfolded I wouldn't be able to tell what colour it was ....

By the way what I was doing blindfold is none of you business

Very discerning,fussy and eclectic in everything;

and make no apologies for it.

There is nothing wrong with bangers and mash...providing the base ingredients are of high quality and the dish is prepared and served well.

Caramelised onions, red wine jus...and a half decent bottle of Rioja at room temp.

Of course it's nice to have a sophisticated pallet but it's more about enjoying the food you eat, trying new things experimenting with new ingredients... In any case everybody knows what they enjoy eating, could talk about it,know what's in it, how they best like to eat it, where they would recommend you should experience the enjoyment of eating it, what drink they Advise you to try with it, to compliment its flavours , to try and give you their most memorable meal.. sophisticated pallet, is nonsense really as we all enjoy different things... Hope that makes sense ....

Like what I like and don't judge it by other people's standard.

Used to work as a taster for wine a few years ago as (unfortunately) I have very sensitive taste buds. I say "unfortunately" because that usually brings with it a low pain threshold and sensitivity in other areas, not all of which are desireable

I like good food, but I tried caviar once and that made me realise I have a fundamentally working class palette.

Do you think it has anything to do with working class?

I think it is probably more to do with what you were introduced to as a youngster and perhaps a genetic disposition?

Not sure but I appriciate good food, specially when I have cooked it and even more so when I've invented it.

I can taste a sauce and tell you if it's any good but can't stand wine so I'm not sure if my palate is sophisticated.

My favourite meal is home made chips cut nice and thick. Sausage with a high meat content fried eggs, and a couple of slices of fresh crusty bread with butter. And loads of salt and vinegar
