Torture is used to obtain an untruthful confession.

No.

From a logical perspective...

Torture is predicated on having the right person.

If the person you're torturing doesn't have the information you require then no amount of pain will change that.

Depends, the good kinky kind or the bad killing kind?

Depends on the type of interrogation and the type of torture to be fair

Could be in a sexual kind

Eventually you give up everything about your society you're supposed to want to protect.

The only time you justify your own human rights is when you have to defend those you abhor.

Bad killing kind. I doubt they use kinky torture in Guantanamo bay to get information

And this

The ticking bomb and you turturing the suspect scenario is a bit of myth

Where an assailant has been caught actively partaking in an act of terrorism I wouldn't object to the use of any form of torture in order to gain information ....

To me they have relinquished all human rights

No. Never appropriate unless I'm in charge. It's so totally wrong for intelligence gathering purposes by state operatives

Generally no. Under extreme circumstances, where the end can justify the means, yes.

I would hate to think of someone in our armed forces being tortured to obtain information and not being able to denounce it because it was deemed by our authorities to be legitimate.

No but I might have used a bit of guantanamo tactics in the bedroom

If we indulge in torture for whatever reasons at what point do we become no better than those who we are trying to prevent whatever act it may be or information requirement we believe we may have...

Just asking...

"Yay or nay? and why?"

no watch zero dark thirty torture unless its total torture will not leads to the truth

but being friendly gaining someones trust then recording of every conversation which is then cross referenced against known intelligence can lead to the truth that's how bin laden was found in the end .

No, in my opinion.

As mentioned above, if they do not have the information then they simply can not give it you. Furthermore, it can also encourage believable lies. After all, people will say anything to stop the torture.

No, it's barbaric and not trustworthy. A truth serum might be better, if they are available and can't be faked.
