What is all this stuff about not judging.

If we did not evaluate ourselves against others the whole world would be in a state of confusion.

Think peeps have been brainwashed by all the media hype about not judging.

Are we not "judged" in the sense of evaluated, and are judged or evaluated, from the moment we start to be individuals?

Do we not need some kind of judgement in our lives, for ourselves, for our families, for our friends, for the rest of society that surrounds us?

At some level yes. The line is drawn between me judging myself and judging others...

Personally I have never had a problem with either.... Others dont like it.

One needs judgemental discretion... IMHO

i have to agree to an extent, however we must be aware of the difference between our moral judgments and judging others based on our prejudices.

i have very strong beliefs about right and wrong, i will not excuse deceit, bigotry or hatred based on race sex or religion.

Given that i have to try to ensure i do not make assumptions about others based on superficial judgement.

Judgement and the ability to make them, about others, situations etc is what we all do minute by minute, day by day.

If we do not, then we are simply passive drones who carry out the will of others, with no thought for ourselves.

You can be too judgemental of others, and some people are unwilling to accept that others may have a _iew that differs from their own, and both _iews may equally right.

Judging is important and will always take place we are social animals and this is how we understand and find our position in the world.

However! Keep it to your fucking self!

There's a subtle, but huge difference between assessing others and judging them: on the psychological assessment level, there are judgers and perceivers, those who make judgements and those who just take in - more sensitively - information that they get from the world and others, fitting it to their patterns of the world, likes, beliefs etc. Some people are more prone to judging, as well as being critical, whilst others are more naturally casual and unconventional free spirit types.

One can take decisions based on one's interests and on data that we pick up, without being judgemental, for example. Neither type potentially has higher moral standards and values, it's somewhat about how things are mentally fitted to their personality, so the theory goes.
