Poor grammar...

Does poor grammar in a message put you off?

I know I'm not alone when I say poor grammar (and punctuation) really winds me up. I try to be forgiving especially as this site doesn't seem to allow autocorrect but I struggle.

I've met a few people with terrible grammar. Strangely it didn't affect their ability to give me a right good seeing to. So no, it doesn't bother me!

They didn't stop half way through to insert a inappropriate comma, or an extra question mark?

Generally a combination of poor grammar and poor photographs turns me off. However poor grammar and good images seem to cancel each other out. Good images and grammar is the holy grail on here.

don't struggle, just accept that you're not compatible with the message sender and move along.

No but I did have to teach them how to punctuate with a semi colon, so maybe op is right

I couldn't meet somebody who wasn't able to express themselves and communicate via messages so that I could understand them. I'm not here to decipher code. I want someone on my level. If they have something interesting to say and can make themselves understood without me spending an hour working it out, then that's cool with me. They don't have to be completely grammatically correct. They have 3 chances

Yes It is annoying when the grammar is poor, but I don't really mind!

Just wish people would at least use full stops!!

It's bad manners though to judge someone on their grammar.

We had great fun with a couple we met in a club. Imagine our horror when they messaged us the next day and found they had bad grammar. We felt violated.

It's about time the clubs brought in some kind of entry test to stop this kind of thing.

If it's too the extent where I'm having to put the pauses in to understand what they mean, then yes it does. If they text talk then it definitely does (I'm not 14 anymore).

I want to meet adults, so for me I want to understand what they are saying, not have to decipher it like its some sort of code.

You could also argue that it's bad manners to judge somebody on a picture of their arse or any body part for that matter. It could be argued that it's bad manners to judge somebody at all until you've actually met them or at the very least had a conversation with them.

But here we are on a site where there are regular threads with people complaining about not getting messages back or not getting a reply to a wink etc... Got to judge people on something on here.

Not so much if I perceive someone as able to communicate intelligibly. If I get the gist of what's said in the forum, that is more than fine.

I suffer from tired eyes and mind often enough to know that many of my posts suffer from random mistakes.

Good people remain that, however our gibberish is displayed.

Sometimes I think, cause English is not my first language I can't speak up about grammar, but seriously some people write in a way I can't understand no matter how hard I try. And I think most of them are just being too sloppy to care about grammar, and of course, as someone said: 'I'm not here for gcse'

Do you feel superior to those that lack?

the question is if you are so grammatically superior is that you also understand the psychology to barriers of communication...perhaps that not taught in grammar schools ...but it is taught in mental health and sociology....

as you guess..I fucking HATE these threads.

This site doesn't Auto Correct, like on so many other websites. That is down to the individual posters to do so.

But some people don't have 100% perfect grammar, punctuation and spelling qualities but what does it matter?

I used to think that poor grammar meant the person was a thicko and I don't want to shag a thicko do I?

Well how fucking wrong can you be

Some of the horniest and most sensual people we have met on this site have barely been able to write a coherent sentence, but so fucking what!

As that spunk was being pumped into me , my pussy was gushing like a fountain and my eyes were popping out of my head I was hardly going to conduct a grammar test.

We have certainly learned to get over ourselves and not judge

Fuck grammar

We are grammar nazi's away from fab, but in fab world we try not to care. We're looking for fun, not long term partners, so will overlook spelling and punctuation errors. In other words we couldn't commit to a bad punctuator but we'll fuck anyone who is hot!!

Special respect to those who speak English as a second language, you do amaze us with your grammar skills.

We tend to notice our own flaws in others. I know i hve poor spelling and grammar, hence I notice it in others. Doesn't have to be perfect but if I have to translate the message it really annoys me. Especially the your and you're type errors. I've had message conversations with dyslexics fine so I'm not buying that argument. I think its sometimes just laziness.

No, it doesn't put me off. This is a swinging site. I like to get to know the person. Some think, poor grammar equals poor intelligence. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Small minds equals small imagination . Had some great lays with men who were not the best with grammar.... Did not effect their 'performance' at all. Plus, they were very intelligent. One was even a successful entrepreneur

Despite what some of you are suggesting about it being that I'm actually noticing my own flaws in others or simply that I'm a boring person with a shit life. The main reason is that I just don't like reading things that aren't written properly. Same way I don't like eating things that aren't cooked properly or using things that don't work properly.

I don't feel superior to those who choose to type poorly or don't have the ability to type better. I don't think you can be judged for allowing good grammar and punctuation to be part of your criteria though. I've seen plenty of profiles stating things such as, 'no black guys', 'no asian men', 'no one with less than an 8 inch cock' etc...

We are on a site that allows absolute prejudice over every feature and you only really get to present yourself in limited ways.

Anyway, I'm off to fuck a dictionary.

It grinds on me too. In written word anywhere. In my own writing/ typing. I can't help it and I won't apologise because it's how I am. But I often use abbreviations and sometimes txt spk. I'm lazy in pm and don't capitalise letters. (Is that even the right way to say it?!)

I have lots of things that put me off people. Spelling is the least of their worries.

Don't ever apologise for who you are and how you feel.

If they struggle to express themselves in a message then it will put me off meeting them, as I (probably unfairly) suspect we'll be sat there not talking if we do meet. However I don't care how bad peoples spelling or grammar are, as long as I understand their message.

It's a good filter / indicator as to whether we will get along with someone.

Not saying I'm so harsh that the odd mistake here or there isn't acceptable. But when we receive messsges in text speak or no breakdown in sentences, it's safe to say they aren't for us. And conversely I think we'd probably annoy people too.

Having said that, there are some on here like Jo who has dyslexia, that I'm sure would be lovely to speak to, but she cannot always write perfectly.

Sometimes my brain works faster that I can type...or txt!

And this is txt its not great literature just a place to swap ideas chat and meet for hopefully great sex.

The famed destructive txt functions don't help either.

I was a little pi***d off last night with the grammar nazis the intolerant and those who again wish to impose their prejudices on others. There are many reasons why txt on here will never be Wuthering Heights or Far from the Madding Crowd...or even pulp fiction including the pace at which threads move and those who have problems with grammar syntax and are using English as a second language etc.

Those who decline to interact with others based on the correct use of an apostrophe are in my opinion the ones with a narrow view of the world and the richness of its people.

If you cannot see past the grammatical correctness of hastily composed txt messages just what other pointless prejudices are their that restrict your view of the world and the people in it?

"Does poor grammar in a message put you off?

I know I'm not alone when I say poor grammar (and punctuation) really winds me up. I try to be forgiving especially as this site doesn't seem to allow autocorrect but I struggle."

Forgiving ? Get over yourself. If someone misses a meet because you got screwed up over a missing comma i'd reckon they got the better deal.

Yes. But not as much as it puts me off about people starting threads about it.

"Yes It is annoying when the grammar is poor, but I don't really mind!

Just wish people would at least use full stops!!

It's bad manners though to judge someone on their grammar.

Got to judge people on something on here."

Yeah I agree, it's sad people judge people on pics etc. (I could be worst for it) I need to have an attraction to personality or/and attracted to take things further but i see it a preference rather than judging!

I also agree we shouldn't judge until we've met that person!!! Pics are rubbish and aren't very true to form!
