What's the point of code words?

I've seen a number of profiles where a special word has been requested to be put in the subject title otherwise it'll get ignored or deleted.

So I followed one persons request and so far my message has remained unread even though the person has been online since.

What's the point in that?

There are 2000 other messages with the codeword as well.

They should put disclaimers in the profile saying that using the code word does not guarantee a response and that people still need to physically match their preferences!

People think it proves you've read the whole profile. Or you could just skip to the end where the code word usually is

Its generally a word near the bottom

Of the profile so that the poster knows ypu have read their profile fully, this stops the people just chancing their arm and posting to 50 profiles with a cut and paste message

I don't get it either but I suppose it works for them.

I always know when someone's read my profile not like mine says much right now.

It's just a method to prove that the messager has read their profile. Doesn't magically make the messager compatible.

They probably read your profile or saw your profile picture and decided not for them. Message or no message.

No one is owed a reply

I used to inform people that I don't have a "word" for them to find in order to contact me. This led to people messaging me saying they actually read my profile as they thought there was one hidden. I think it's pointless, it's easy to skim a profile to find that word.

I get why they want people to put code words to prove people have read their profile fully. And I appreciate that people get lots of messages.

I agree that a disclaimer could be provided.

How do you stealthily view a profile? Ha ha

It's one of the hoops some folks like you to jump thru. It's usually on profiles that are longer than war and peace.

Go to privacy and hide yourself from the "who viewed me" page.

A myth... Messages get deleted after so many days of not being read. People that complain about all the messages they're getting will also be the ones who refuse to put filters on. Once you've been on here more than a week the messages soon die down, so for someone who's been on here a while and claims they are getting hundreds of messages I'd like to see. Myself and every female I know (from here) would cut down to less than 20messages a day, with an increase if we were to upload a pic. But that's the amazing thing about filters, it decreases the amount of messages.

I have a phrase that people can choose to put or not.

It just makes me laugh but doesn't mean anything else

Some people don't put it at the end though. We've had a few messages over the last few days that have used our code word and contain questions which shows they must have read the whole profile. The strange thing is that they've totally ignored the first eleven words

Haha. To make people jump through hoops. I never do it and have always got a reply. My suggestion is to just tailor your message to something or things in their profile and f@#k the special words mate

Better to have several words and numbers, so that the op can keep busy and do the game properly.

No reply means not interested - codes used or not
