What instrument do you play?

As you can see from my profile picture I love nothing better than giving my little ukulele a frequent twang. Some of you I guess are more a lover of woodwind and getting your lips around the instrument before giving it a blow. What is your favourite instrument?

I'm not that good at strings, percussion or brass although I can get a recognisable tune or basic 6/8 or 4/4 rhythm out of most of them. Woodwind and keys I can do (and a harp but that's pretty much a naked piano flipped upright anyway).

Lots of musicians in the Trannie community. Some say it's because creatives are more open-minded and more likely to experiment.

yes .. started on recorders ( all of them)violin and piano at 5. Flute and clarinet for a while from 7 Cello at 9 along with viola and cornet.

Then got to big school and worked my way through brass instruments till I found the French horn. I dropped all but violin and French horn mostly.. but do still practice. Its like riding a bike you never really forget and obviously the basics of the bow snd strings are not lost with me still playing violin.

French horn is my favourite though.

I love my emx, looks ridiculously complicated to look at.

They're a little slow to program but you can get some insane sounds out of them and can live mix them whilst it's playing.

Throw in the KP3 for real time effects control and using it to fade in and out (something the emx can't do) and you've got a great set up that's a tonne of fun to play with.

They look like they do a lot of things quite well (as opposed to specialising in one thing amazingly well). I imagine they're good for jamming down ideas/sketches fairly easily. I've got rid of most of my hardware now, just a couple of synths that are falling to bits! I do pretty much everything in the box now. Wouldn't mind an arturia minibrute to play around with but I can't justify those kind of outlays anymore I'm afraid.

So when's the Fab(swing)Band™

Getting together... think it sounds like we got all areas of music covered

See I'd be thinking a war of the worlds album Fab style this way every instrument listed here could be part of the show..It seems like are some very talented people amongst us

music wise and it seems perhaps some could write a score...to some story we could come up with ourselves. Hence given some have talked about Brian Eno..something like war of the worlds along those lines?

Its a shame really that this idea has come from a swing site. Not because I'd be ashamed but I guess in real world we can't all form a band or anything because the toilet papers would be onto it before someone played a note.

Anyway just passing a creative thought.

I play the harmonica, 10 hole diatonic. I also do a little on the chromatic too.

I've played trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, briefly a baritone horn and a stint on drum kit.

I find I don't get enough time to practice any more, so rarely play now, other than at Christmas time when I sometimes help out.

I have done a bit of composition and arrangements for brass ensembles too which I find more enjoyable.
