"Brussels, lovely place "

Even more so due to the £15 each way flights I got, the prevalence of comfortable cheap accommodation, and the beeeeer

Lovely city.

Dresden is beautiful too. They've rebuilt a lot of the older bits

A few less obvious ones :

Strasbourg

Not easy to get to, but stunning

Wroclaw

Again stunning and off the tourist trail

Warsaw

Was blown away by the place when I first went

Not what I expected at all

Karlovy Vary

Take plenty of money

Porto

Still warmish in October

Lazy evenings by the river

Stockholm

Again, take plenty money

Nice

Beautiful but pricey

West Yorkshire

I want to do more little breaks, I didn't have a passport for so long, now I have one I'm wanting to use it! Especially as there are some real bargains out there. I'm going to Spain in October for a few days on my own and can't wait.

Birmingham

We have canals that rival Venice

The Tolkien Trail

For those who love lord of the rings

With excursions into the black Country, you can see the home of heavy metal

And we have a bullring that is bigger and twice as dangerous as anything you can find in Spain.

Fancy a taste of the exotic? A trip to the balti belt will excite those taste buds.

And if it's fun you are after, it's a short trip to extasia, chaos, and vallhala.

Birmingham.

As exiting as London, only cheaper

See if there are any 'Rick Stein - Long Weekend' clips or episodes on youtube as they might inspire you.

Rhondda in Wales will be mental in October OP, a bit bleak and it's probably pissing down and the rugby season will be in full flow butt.
