What if this is as good as it gets......

Are you completely satisfied and content with what you've achieved in life?

If it has peaked for you or life ended today, what single thing do you feel you would most regret not having done seen or achieved?

If this is as good as it gets I'm happy

Don't regret very much in my life really. I do wish I'd gone skiing when I was younger - problems with my spine makes it impossible now. The only major regret is that I never had the opportunity to go on holiday with my dad once I became an adult...just one of those things that you mean to do and then it's just too late. Sadly I lost my lovely dad 16 years ago.

Generally, I think it's far better to regret things that you have done than those you haven't

I have no regrets in my life, any mistakes I've made, I've learnt from them, and they've made me who am I today.

However, if my life ended tomorrow I'd be pretty pissed I'd never done a lot of the stuff I want to. There is so much I have left that I want to do, not necessarily need to do though.

If I don't wake up tomorrow morning, I think I'd go a happy man.

Have had a great 30yrs with Kate and we've raised 2 sons.

I came into the world with nothing but I think I've contributed something during the last 54yrs

Don't have any regrets, but I would have loved to have had a few beers with my dad.

He didn't drink though, so it's not surprising it never happened.

I've had a few with my boys though, but I'm still waiting for them to get 'em in

"

Regret not doing: Looking left and right

Regret not seeing: The number 54

So I think I'll stay on this side of the road today and be very genuinely content with my life.

Good question Blackspice....theres a short answer or long one ..

Best I give the short one....in respect am I content, that really depends where I am within myself and spiritual life....if I`m connected then yes..everything is as it should be...very content...

However if I`m disconnected from the thing that makes sense out of my life I have, that sense of dis-ease settles in...destroying my harmony with life..

I`ve never been materialistic...so my goals have always really centred around other things..like a rewarding working life...aristic and creative mostly..if I`m in a good place creatively and have autonomy , then I`m fufilled partly..I also need good human relationships..I learn`t a long time ago, I can`t live as an island...thankfully at the mo...Sharon is in my life, as well as some good friendships and social interaction..

My regret is not fufilling my true potential creatively....tho within the metalworking scene, thats not an unusual tale these days...and I should of been truer to myself and explored the world more when younger, I`ve a wanderlust deep inside...

My biggest regret by the way...was not saying goodbye to my father before he died.....fear was my master...sad..

So in short...today...am I content ?...mostly ?..

I`ve a few "wants"..no "needs"...

Ask me in a years time I might not be mostly content....

Anyways...mean`t to be a short answer...sorry...I could gabble about life all day ...good subject matter to muse on ..

Edinburgh - west end

I'm the believer that the things we do in life, we can either allow them to make us a bitter or better person.

They say that life is our playground and we experience the bitter and sweet in the decisions we make when growing up. That's an ongoing process. You either live your life wondering about the 'what if's and the regrets or you just let life find the path that is meant for each and everyone of us.

I believe that we all have an opportunity to make a difference in what we say and do. Every action has a positive or negative reaction. I always tend to go with the flow of things and see what happens and never allow there to be a dull moment in your life. Life is what you make of it.

Does that make any sense?

Does to me ....a lack of victimhood is always a good place to be..

The OP asked if you were content ?...a savvy question....

The western world ain`t mostly...theres an opinion ! tehe...

Is my life as good as it gets - hell no

I have loads of things I want to achieve yet, no way am I done. I'm content that I've achieved important things already, like raising a family etc and I've learnt a lot via employment that I've had and currently and I've seen a few places that I've wanted to.

But I want to achieve being a grandma and spoiling my grandchildren and getting excited over Father Christmas again, so have that to achieve.

I've recently passed exams and hopefully I can rise further up the ladder in respect of promotion prospects. I intend to take further exams next year, having a years break after 2 years opf study.

And I intend to do more travelling. I haven't been to Hong Kong yet, I haven't been to Los Angeles yet, I haven't seen the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat of Rwanda yet.

They are just a few things, no I'm not completely content yet

Thank you all for your open honest responses. As a result of reading them and thinking about this topic there is a specific thing I am going to do tonight that I simply have not got round to doing.

You lot have motivated me, thank you.

I would find it bizarre to think that I was content to achieve nothing more in life than what I've achieved up to now. I'm 43, hopefully I'm only halfway through life.

I'm happy that I've had kids but there's more to me than just being a mother. Maybe ill have another baby, which admittedly is not likely as Chris has had a vasectomy, but hopefully ill achieve more career wise. I don't really view sex with strangers as something I have to achieve, in the great scheme of life its hardly noteworthy that I've been spitroasted

If life's a stage and we are all players then I'm fucked if I'm doing karaoke

I regret nothing I have done. Everythings happens for a reason and I am in the happiest place I have ever been righ now because of those choices.

So am I content? Hell yeah

Scarlett
