Now before you all start going off on me, READ WHAT IM ABOUT TO WRITE!

Old women are un appealing, I'm not talking numerical age, I'm talking age of spirit, some women in their 50s and 60s still have that glint in the eye, and fire in the loins, she refuses to act her age, and is experienced enough to know that life is to be enjoyed.

But there are so many women who just give up, they hit 50 and buy a mac and a shopping trolley and that's them for the rest of their natural born life.

Don't be old, be experienced and keep that fire burning, and that goes for men too

I don't think that being old in spirit means that you refuse to act your age. I find 60 year old women and men acting like teenagers deeply unnattractive.

I think that people who lose their youthful outlook on life and become stale and closed minded aren't the kind whose company I want to keep for long though.

I know someone who thinks she has an old spirit.. and she's one of the sexiest women I've met.. So I'll agree to disagree.. although I think what you're trying to say.. is a defeated spirit.. not an old one.

I think I understand what you mean. It frustrates me when people appear to 'give up' on life as they get older. Fine of course if you're truly content with those choices but I still hear people saying they 'shouldn't' do this that or the other just because they've reached a particular age and/or because they're concerned about what others might think. Thankfully that attitude isn't as prevalent as it was in my mum's generation (my mum was 'middle aged' at 40, complete with a bloody shopping trolley) but it does still happen ... people restricting themselves, shutting themselves off to new experiences etc., because of what their birth certificate says instead of how they really feel inside. You're a long time dead - and potentially a long time hanging on with decreased mobility and worsening health - so while you're still able, and willing, sod what anyone else thinks about 'acting your age'. Joie de vivre (having a delight, a joy for living) transcends any age and is hugely attractive

I commented on a thread about a week ago, talking about age ranges, and a 33 year old woman described 45 as 'ancient'. I don't feel ancient, and I bet she wouldn't have been able to keep up with me in the beach volleyball I was playing on holiday

I think I look better in my 30s than I did in my 20s despite being a few dress sizes bigger and grey hairs wiser.

Age really is just a number and how you feel on the inside shines through. I have aspirations to be a 50/60year old confident cougar as it happens.

That said I do get part of what you're saying. My aunt is 65 . She looks great, trendy dresser, great skin, nicely done hair, fun attitude and still working full time. She has a great social life too with some lovely friends. Shes single. Some of her friends are like her, some look 30 years older, some make no effort, some judge her, some have lives of luxury. Some are boring and look awful but have doting husband's. Heck I know women my age like that too.

Yes we all judge, its human nature. Its irrelevant though. So long as people are happy. Life's too short.

I get what you're saying OP. As a child I would often get told by adults 'you've an old head on young shoulders' but stilling feeling childish at times. Now an adult, I'm often told by my daughter's, as well as Peach, 'you're so childish somtimes' but still being a grumpy man at times.

I believe it has alot to do with social conditioning and liberating enlightenment, as to whether or not we have the 'life force'.

Yes good point - I don't judge anyone who 'acts their age', I just can't relate to them. And I'm actually a bit jealous sometimes of people in settled, loving relationships who don't NEED to colour their hair or put on make up or do anything contrived because they both love and accept each other exactly as they are and have long since gone past the need to 'enhance' their appearance, or worry about what anyone else thinks, like some old hippy couples. They are to be admired, not judged IMO.

Breaking news OP, shopping is heavy, some people (like me) don't have cars. I had a shopping trolley and I fetched home a load of heavy bathroom tiles in it. Then decorated my bathroom. You shouldn't generalise and judge. I also have a rain Mac, they sell them in Trendy ladies clothes shops...coz..Er they are useful in the rain. XXX

I think growing old before your time is just as common in men as women op!

I've also met some youngsters who seem to have been born old!!

TBH I had done this by 30 with my ex husband he cheated, used porn, sex lines. I threw him out. Met my current husband at 35 sex became something that wasn't just about fertility and duty.

We experimented and eventually ended up here and went to our first club just over a month ago. We're only with each other but we are having the time of our lives at 44 and if I go like that in 5 1/2 years shoot me.

Age comes with possibility of similar interest, music, films, life, politics, generational differences such as war, tv, responsibility, values and the list goes on of course not absolute.

A 40 years old man dating a 19 years old women very likely does not view life and interest the same way.
