In honour of all the Noble White Knights out there, I declare today to be National White Knight day.

So to honour this special day, all forumites are to mount their Trusty Steeds, carry their Shield of Virtue and Sword of Retribution and go forth into the forums righting wrongs and defending the honour of those that don't need defending.

Ah, but I'm a Lady I hear you say...

Unleash your inner Boadicea and Knight with the best of them.

The most outrageous efforts will be rewarded with a Knighthood of the Order Of The White Knight (OWK)

I actually do love white knighting. Gives me faith that there are still good guys out there.

If any wish to wear the suit of armour for me... feel free. That's one fantasy on my tick list

Agreed. It's nice to feel protected and that you have someone looking out for you. To be swept off my feet for real would be epic.

I do own my own sword. I don't have a full set of armour, just helmet and gauntlets, but I can get hold of a mail hauberk if needed.

But for I am just a humble blacksmith, toiling through the long days, in front of my flaming forge with sweat running down my brow, using the most basic of tools to change the shape of crude lumps of iron, trying to make them into beautiful and practical things, things that will protect you against harm, defend you against the evil that men do, things to make your life a little easier by making simple tools, some say its sorcery, others the work of some dark and mysterious force, but no, it's just me with my understanding of nature, it's capabilities and forces. I don't do it for thanks or to be honoured, it's just my way of helping people and giving me peace of mind doing something I enjoy. Being a part of the 2nd oldest profession and hopefully passing my knowledge onto future generations. Without blacksmiths there would be no white knights.

I'd actually love to make a suit of armour, and a chainmail suit. The methods are very primative but the details can be beautiful.

Whilst I agree there are some that may well deliberately do that as a means to an end, and in those cases are just as bad as whoever they are 'white knighting' against, I don't see anything wrong in upholding personal beliefs and taking a stance against someone who is being deliberately vile even if it is to stand up for someone else (regardless of their gender).

It's a fine line I agree and guess the key is identifying which is which.

Anyone who does it surely can't be yellow either! Doing that knowing you're gonna get a tonne of abuse from fellow guys on here is pretty gutsy if you ask me.

Maybe we see things differently.

Theres a difference between white knighting and calling someone out on something they've posted that happens to be mean/nasty/bullshit/just plain wrong (delete as appropriate). In the latter case accusations of white knighting are a lazy response - and wholly due to the person responding trying to change tangent when their bullshit is called out.

Most WK's don't even know they're doing it though, that's the trouble. I can tell a WK post from a person standing up for principles.

Lots of people think WKing is just sticking up for a woman, but it's not just that, there are other factors.

My honour is in question but my white knight (Fuzz) just laughed and rode off with a bevy of beauts, my back up knight is galavanting somewhere in the world so there's now a vacancy...

Warning..my honour is quite often in question so you'll need to put some hours in defending my innocence
