Depends what you're using it for. I have a laptop that's nearly ten years old because all I do is use it for word processing. And I have a desktop that's top-specced because it runs my Adobe programs, Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut etc. The desktop has to be re-specced regularly to keep it running fast enough for intense image and video editing.

so....in English that means....it runs for as long as it really wants to?

That's my experience, anyway. Technophobe here. Bet you couldn't guess.

Yup, pretty much! If all you need is internet and email, your laptop can last for years.

Chuck in an SSD drive and a bit more memory and you'll get another couple of years out of it.

a long time, previous laptop had about 9 years, nothing wrong with it when i sold it. pc also lasted about 9 years, still nothing wrong with that either when i sold it.

if you look after your IT, it will last a long time.

They should last a long time, what I do to mine sometimes is a factory reset to get is as it was when you got it.

Average life of a pc or laptop is 5 to 6 years. I wouldnt really look to upgrade a machine thats as old as that and put the money towards a new machine.

you probably need some app to convert the files to become readable on the laptop.

I'd expect 10 years plus and had them last that long. Hard drives that spin are a problem forme but replaced
