In the office, I have just took over some new work with the minimalist of handovers. 1.5 hours on a task that took the old person -2 whole days.

Now this week is the first time I am doing and I am worried that I don't understand it. I have explained this to my boss. She was very sympathetic but said can you just try. Being the hard working person I am, I have but I am just so fustated that I haven't a clue what I am doing

I have done the first part and have asked a colleague for help. I wonder who else would just say no I am not doing it as I don't understand it

Explain to boss you've done as much as you can but need a proper hand over to be able to continue doing your job correctly. Back it up with an e mail incase something goes tits up and you're left getting the blame.

I feel your pain. Bosses are extremely good at platitudes without constructive solutions. For 8 weeks now we have been short staffed and I have been pulling an average of 70 hours a week. Quite a bit above the 60 hour limit and no day off in three weeks. Every concern I have raised has been met with “it will get better” but so far evidence has been to the contrary. Nothing more than a sound their face makes to make us feel better.

I like a challenge. I'd say I'll give it a go but I'm going to be bugging the life out of people when I need help.

I keep asking questions until I understand. They either explain better or give up and give it to someone else.

Hope you get it sorted. Work sometimes is shit.

I feel sorry as boss is really nice and it isn't her fault as she has been shafted in all of this

But I don't think anyone actually realised what was needed to be done and therefore all hell has broken loose

Will have a chat tommorow when she is back from hols and I am not working from home
