Why do people when in bed, get right in and scratch their bum and then sniff their finger, and then they sniff it again?

I never touch my own hole apart from when in the bath or playing on cam but I love to play with other peoples bottoms in bed and yes I might have a cheeky sniff but I've never played with a dirty bottom lol
