"I had the same thing with McLaren, stepped down from a supervisory role, pay cut, still did exactly the same, I feel for you. Take it to HR department if you have one, good luck x" I've already been to HR. They said to speak to my boss. Thank you. x My boss has no clue what I do. It's other managers/ my boss's boss that know what I do. I think I'm going to just do that they pay me for.

"Ask them to do a gap analysis on your current performance and that of the next payband and agree an action plan to give you the experience you need to get you there. Good luck with the review " I did this too, thanks. Problem is my boss has no idea what my job is. I gave him examples of what I've done/ achieved and he ignored what I said and asked if I wanted to do more hours! Wow writing this down made me realise just how crap my situation is. I really don't know how to take this.

"Work to rule. Anything they ask you to do outside your job description just reply with my default sentence. "Sorry, can't do, that's above my pay grade"" I've never had any experience of working in a corporate environment, but this sounds like the best plan of action. Good luck OP, and don't let the bastards grind you down

"I've been working very hard the last couple of years and I consistently do more than my role requires. My supervisors have noted this and told me they know I do the same as the next job grade above mine. I've asked them to review what I do against the next job grade, with a view to a promotion/ pay rise. I am 99% sure I will get nothing. They know I'm not in a position to look for another job locally so they will continue to let me do more while they save money on a higher waged person. If you were me, what would you do? " You mention that your supervisors have noted the situation and say they know you do the work of the job grade above, ask them perhaps this question...? If they say they cannot pay you more, ask them if you should recalibrate your output to that just of your pay grade. They should say yes. Then do it.

"Sorry, can't do, that's above my pay grade"" This is what I do too, sometimes you end up taking on too much, now I just go "sorry it's nothing to do with me" it's amazing how much of a relief it is to say those words
