Anxiety

I've suffered from this now for 7 long years every day can be a struggle, but you try to plod on, you listen to the people who think you can take a magic pill or just tell you to get over it and think if only they really knew what it's like,, with it constantly evolving from one type of fear to another, always feeling like you have a lack of control, looking forward to that one day in a year where your free of the anxiety.

Just wondering in my self pity today how everyone else manages to cope

I had some pain meds once that had a terrible reaction .. happened to look the guy up that prescribed them recently and he is now a senior lecturer at Manchester Uni amongst other things.

His advice to my shattered self was; 'which is worse the pain or the anxiety - you'll have to put up with one of them'.

Luckily he said it whilst somebody was there and they were astounded by it, corrected him on the spot, advised that alternatives were always possible and a second opinion was wanted.

Have you looked at your vit D and vit B12 levels?

It depends on the day. Some days I force myself out of the house ... others I hide myself away. If I am out and get an anxiety attack I try and use the grounding method to calm myself down so I can get to a "safe" place.

I am very much the same. It is just a shame that some people do not understand and think that you are just making excuses. Xx

I think from time to time we all have it, trying new things to going somewhere that you haven't been before, I am 36 and iv never bin on a train On my own, my daughter has its but she 15 and self harm she has her family and friends as we all do to help her through it when times are hard x

I sympathise op,i am a sufferer too and have felt bad this week with it.

Sometimes theres no trigger for it,i have a mindfulness ap on my phone that i use .

If mines bad ,i stay home if its my day off ,do i can avoid any further triggers.

Therapy can help ie cbt too,i think if you google anxiety some tools to cope will come up.

I've seen a documentary similar. The lady was given depression meds, turned out she was bipolar and she kept having orgasms that lasted hours when she wasn't even being touched!

I've got a terrible anxiety disorder and always forget my medication.

I find doing meets nerve wracking, but really push myself to put myself in that situation.

How do you find doing meets? Do you get nervous and anxious, too?

The meds im on don't do my mojo any favours but i try to crack on with it,the sleep deprivation half of it is an ongoing battle. Trying to sort a meet out is hard work for me but the last time i just pushed myself and it all worked out fine x

I can relate to all posts on this thread. I too have suffered from crippling anxiety for around ten years. There seems to be very little help out there. Each time I have been to the docs about my issues they have fobbed me off with pills that just DONT work. Xxx

I'm on citalopram hydrobromide at the moment but changing to sertraline as I find the hydrobromide in the citalopram affects my willy!! Instead of being a big hard flag pole it's a flaccid piece of cooked spaghetti lol

i used to get very anxious - my head plays chess still all the time and thinks ahead - i now have coping mechanisms that work for me most of the time - i walk a lot - i clean a lot - work so damned hard in my job to keep my mind from going into panic mode - and te last few years come in here and while away an hour or so

I find that raising my heart rate too high simulates a panic attack which in turn brings on a panic attack - can't win!!

Sertraline knocked me bandy. Barely knew my own name for 3 weeks. Citalopram is seeming ok, but I think the dose is too low.

I'm on the highest dose of Sertraline. . No wonder I lose myself some days

I don't get it much, had the ambulance out first time cos I couldn't breath.

I've always been a total cynic when it comes to panic attacks and the like... Then I had one, was going on for hours... Horrible

Got beta blockers, then antidepressants.

I'm not depressed, I'm under a lot of pressure, too much leads to stress....and then I'm buggered..hats off to those who are struggling everyday. It ain't nice at all

Lose yourself... understatement. I would wander around looking for stuff I was holding.

I think I'm still yet to find my happy medium.

I've suffered for years and been on and off meds .some work some don't,my doctor doesn't like anyone on them long term .

there's often no obvious reason for me to be anxious but notice stress doesn't help.

cbt,counselling helps .also take vit b complex,vit d and try and get outside for half hour a day.

starting a course of accupunture next week ,hopefully it'll at least help .x

I can fully sympathise OP, as I've been there and done that... I've tried therapy which didn't work and a variety of meds which, yes, didn't work - I was reluctant to take them very long, as on better days I was never sure if I was feeling better or if it was just the meds making me feel better.

I think part of it is trying lots of different hobbies and different ways to help yourself. For example, I started adult colouring two years ago this month, and after a while I noticed that my anxiety had gotten so much better, and now, as long as I do it on a daily basis, 99.9% of the time my anxiety just shuts the fuck up.
