Best Jeeps /4x4's?

Anyone have a good Jeep or 4x4 which is reliable and cheap on fuel?also has good boot space.I hear they are very expensive to run.heard some bad stories about rangerovers/landrovers being in the garage quite often.

Possibly but mainly for normal roads and motorway driving but need good boot space.

4x4 will be 30 - 35 mpg at best PLUS heavy on tax

an estate would give you possibly 50+ mpg and much lower tax

I have an estate and a 4x4. The estate is the better drive, more economical and more comfortable by a million miles. For journeys of any length its my vehicle of choice.

My 4x4 is a Shogun and a brilliant work tool, used regularly for towing over 2 ton trailers. Its great at what is does, but not really comfortable and towing is 20mpg and without towing its 29mpg.

But you have to choose..

Unless you find one with an LPG conversion or you are able to get hold of a plentiful supply of used cooking oil and are prepared to invest in a home use centrifuge there isn't a cheap too run 4x4

I have an xc60 and it does about 45mpg, good sized boot as it fits a wheelchair in unfolded, I had a Tiguan before but the boot wasn't big enough for my requirements.

The xc90 is bigger as it is a 7 seater but it's all personal choice really

I would even look at the kia's get them in front wheel drive should swerve the expense of 4x4 but have the whole feel of one.

I have a Ford Kuga. The 165hp permanent 4WD model. I get 40 mpg on average. Servicing is about the same as my wifes saloon. Spares have been relatively cheap. Insurance is cheap as well. Tax is higher than my last car, but hey ho. Boot space is good. I can load it up with the dogs, luggage and camping kit. On top of that I can hook the boat on and it'll tow anywhere. Ive had it 3 years. Done about 50k miles and love it!
