FabSwingers.com forum: I can't help wonder

if the consensus on the forums of what makes a good single guy profile is different to what actually works on fab in general.

I say that because when I look at the veri's of local women most of the guys they have met have what would generally be considered poor profiles, a few dick pics and little text/personal info ect and few or no veri's.

I wonder if these women prefer to meet guys who are more under the radar, more mysterious? Is it a turn off if a guy has a lot of pics or good veri's ect, do they prefer meeting guys who appear less experienced or have just been around less?

I'm just curious as what seems to work locally to me doesn't seem to correlate with the advice usually given in the forums.

you do have a point! I've had a quick look at my local updates tab on the basis of this thread and many of the recent local verifications do seem to be with profiles that don't seem to match the perceived wisdom on here!

Maybe they met through the club scene.

Maybe they just don't use the forums - remember there is such a low percentage of fabbers who actually use this to contact people.

So by that account, the majority will just meet via a message.

Maybe it's just the forumites who demand the perfect profiles and witty messages. Maybe we're the fussy brigade

I think there are different types of females on Fab as there are in real life. You have to remember only a small amount of them use the forum. So the opinions you see aren't exactly representative of Fab as a whole. So I think the only thing you can do is be truthful otherwise what you attract won't be appealing. Yes I know there will always be those that message whom you aren't interested in but there will also be the happy accidents

I have met some with horrendous profiles but if they've sent me a really decent message and started a conversation then I can overlook bad progile text.

Bad pictures I can't (I'm a shallow bitch!) Unless I've seen them on cam in chat and just know they are a horrendous photographer lol

I've also met plenty via Cupids who surprised me as terrible profiles but great to chat to in person....

So Ive had a look at the profiles of guys I met and had a think about it.

Most of the crap profile ones are people Ive met in chat or forums so their personality has come through that way.

There are a couple who have sent really good engaging first messages and that has bypassed the crap profiles. One sent a pic I just couldn't resist-I did actually rewrite his profile after telling him I wouldn't have replied had it not been for the pic

Id say only 2 Ive met have outstanding profiles and one of those I knew before I joined.

A few of my meets have been from messaging on fab and they have really good profiles. The rest are from meeting and getting to know them in a club and their profiles are a bit crap in comparison.

If I meet someone in person they can impress and attract me with their personality. Messaging on fab they need to try and get some of that across in their profile and messages which can be very difficult.

Interesting, so would you say it's almost a waste of time trying to have a "good" profile? My opinion is for single guys it's more about making connections as standing out is almost impossible.

As I always state on the forum whenever this comes up there is a disconnect between the forum advice consensus and actual fab. My regular squeeze has no pics and a 2 line profile but I still met him because we hit it off within a couple of messages. If I'm doing the searching then a good profile does matter to me to make me message first but that's by no means a prerequisite when it comes to me responding to a message.

I do get inboxed by some folk with great profiles. But who are just crap to talk to or just a complete mismatch. To be honest it's usually couples who are like that. Recently I've either been putting my profile in self destruct mode or just leaving it blank.

There's not too many people on the forums who I'd want to meet. And the one's that I probably would meet, live too far away.

Sometimes I PM people from the forum. But it's not because I want to fuck them. It's just because I like them as people, or it's an extension of forum chat.

Profile text means nothing to me. Like literally a guy could have nothing written on his profile. I go off pictures and height!

Because people talk a good game on thier profiles,forums etc but then when it comes to sex they do as they please. Some will say they don't like a lot of veries,some will say they like to see a good amount as it shows confidence within meeting people. Swings and roundabouts to be honest with you mate. Some will say don't meet smokers but then you see a profile who they've met and they smoke. Don't try analyse this place or you'll go mental. Just take it for what it is and do your own thing.

A great profile, nice selection of pictures and good veri's can make a good profile. However I can chat to that person and not feel anything or that they're right for me. I would be more inclined to speak to those people though or respond to a message from them as opposed to a basic profile with no text and rubbish photos. Those I tend to ignore

I have to admit that veri's put me off.

I don't display mine I like to keep them for myself.

I like a funny profile and obviously have to like the pictures - but it doesn't really matter to be honest - it's all about the conversation you have with the person privately.

I guess it depends how you approach things, if you intend to just rely on messaging to get to know people then id say its important. 9 times out of 10 I check a profile before I even read the message. But its a fickle place, if a pic catches my eye it catches my eye and ill respond despite the profile!

I wouldn't listen to profile advice on the forum. It's generally what those with the loudest voices and strongest opinions think that becomes the concensus. I have differing opinions to most about most things but whenever I can be arsed to speak up my comments are largely disregarded. I prefer a guy that does his own thing and doesn't try to mould himself into Mr perfect from the fab forum

What is it that makes a good profile anyway, surely it's subjective to a certain degree ~ what I find appealing might not appeal to others & vice versa.

When I respond to that question in the forums it's usually off the back of a whinging OP who (gives the impression ) can't be arsed to sort a profile out but can't understand why he isn't knee deep in vag on week 2.
