comedy....who's your favorite comedian?

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

Comedy is very subjective....most comedy come from personal experiences that the comedian has lived though or a friend has lived through.

The skill is in writing the joke/story then making it relatable to their audience.

It just got me wondering who's your favorite...it might be hard to select just one. So pick a few.

Billy Connolly. I was lucky enough to go and see him live last year. I used to play cassettes of his gigs in my car on the way to work years ago. I probably used to get so many funny looks from other drivers as I laughed in my car

I once warched Michael Mcintyre on Graham Norton talk about a video his kids had made on holiday. Now as a comedian he never really struck me as that funny, but the way he told the story had me in stitches on my sofa for 10 minutes. I was borderline hysterical. Tears were pouring.

Anyway, I like comedy that is dry, sarcastic and observational stuff. Jokes as such do nothing for me.

Jasper Carrot and Dave Allen were what i was brought up on. Billy Connelly too but in truth i don't find him that funny.

"I still laugh my head of to Billy Connelly, find Kevin Bridges very funny.

Love the comedic intelligence of Eddie Izzard and Dara O'Brain.

One liners of Bob Monkhouse .

Peter Kay happens to have a bit of everything."

Another for Billy Connelly, will always be the master story teller. Then followed by Kevin Bridges

"Comedy is very subjective....most comedy come from personal experiences that the comedian has lived though or a friend has lived through.

The skill is in writing the joke/story then making it relatable to their audience.

It just got me wondering who's your favorite...it might be hard to select just one. So pick a few."

Love re-runs of tommy cooper, honestly that big daft laugh etc. Even him just walking on would make you laugh.

"British Comics,

Sarah Millican and Jimmy Carr.

American Comics,

Ron White and Rodney Carrington.

Ron " 'tater salad" white is class

That sketch where he tells that joke is comedy gold!

"You did it! You caught the tater!"

"I don't know how many of them sons o'bitches it was gonna take to kick my assss.....but I knew how many they were gonna use"

"That's a handy bit of information to have right there!"

Sir, you are being charged with being d*unk in publikkkk!

"Hey hey hey, I wasn't in publikkkkk I was d*unk in the bar! They THREW me into publikkkk! Arrest them!" "

At that point I had the right to remain silent.. ...

But I didn't have the ability!

So many of Ron's throw away lines are comedy gold

Stand ups yes.

Today’s comedy just isn’t funny.

They are trying too hard to script it rather than getting the kick that comes with ad lib.

Each to their own as in all things but couldn’t stand Little Britain, Matt Lucas and David Walliams just aren’t funny.

"Joey Diaz, Doug Stanhope, Ralphie May, Bill Burr, Dave Chapelle"

have to say i have so much respect for bill burr just because he basically burns thru material at such a rate.... the podcast he does is a brilliant, but 4 hrs of topical stuff each week is insane....

and for all of those who have said jim jeffries... i hope you are all watching his new show on comedy central...... think of it as his spin on the john oliver/samantha bee type show... it is brilliant!!!!
