"Sounds like they're going to have to either sacrifice some quality of life to fund it or skip because they can't afford it, which would be a shame. Assuming they don't have the money somewhere, can they free up equity in their house or look to take out a loan? Granted it may not be ideal and sounds a bit extreme but is a lifetime of that guy wondering what if worth less than just 30 grand. I think they need to have a solid look at whether this opportunity is really going to be beneficial to him and isn't just a case of it's been offered so I want it. If they then decide it has to happen then it's a case of doing everything to make it work. Be that a loan, some hardcore fundraising, surely he's in some sort of group over here, could they do a benefit concert? And then a long shot but speaking to production companies etc and seeing if they would sponsor him in exhacnge for the publicity and him agreeing to maybe work for them post graduation? I suspect it may be a combination of all of the above and some more. Congratulations to him for getting accepted though, shows the talents there, and regardless of how this plays out he'll find a way to make it work for him. Just have him remember that while it's an amazing opportunity it may not be a golden ticket, and if it's going to ruin his family financially to make it happen then maybe another route to his success is worth considering. Good luck, and set up a go fund me page! Every £ is one less he has to find. " They have considered remortgaging. He has some money saved from when he was billy for 2 years... all that will be going towards to He has got a go find me page and currently has £1600 on there with a further £2500 pledged Loans were considered, but they don't want to do that just yet incase they are needed for second year. Currently starting to get some publicity in the news papers

"What about the second year?" More funding from julliards may be available next year once he has proved himself.. also my friend will have more time to save in preparation for the course fees. And hopefully they will be able to get some overseas grants.. it's just that they don't have much time this year with the short notice of increasing fees

"Presumably he's already part of a dance school or troupe? Can they help with either a beneficiary show, they could also do bag packing at supermarkets, look at the fundraising events scouts and other youth groups do for ideas of what works well in your local area. Ginger " He's only got a month to organise things.. in the meantime he's working as much as he can, as is his mum. And I believe he's also doing some special dance workshops for kids
