Would you bother to sign one or do you think they are a waste of time?

Sign ones from Avaaz quite regularly. They do seem to be effective.

"What is it ? "

Internet petitions. Once you're registered with a campaign movement, all you need do is enter your email address and the database fills in the rest.

Even the government has a special site for them at epetitions.direct.gov.uk

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

The e.petition to evict people involved in the rioting from their council accomodation if they are convicted is reported to have reached 97,000 and if it gets to 100,000 it apparently has to be debated by Parliament...

Interesting first test of how effective these petitions are going to be...

Ive heard Manchester are saying the same...

Not sure I fancy the idea of homeless scallys wandering the streets though but maybe it will only take one or two examples to get the message across...we'll see.

One went up this morning to axe benefits to looters, and that was nearing the 100,000 mark. Although judging by why the courts are handing out to them nothing will happen. On the news last night two idiots caught with £40000 worth of items got a £100 fine, but had it waived as they had been locked up for over 24 hours. Also the wonderful human rights lawyers will be all over it

ok so what kind of deterant is that they should have given them a much bigger fine and made them pay for the damage they have caused

sorry THEY dont feel shame, its US who feel the shame, sorry but think about the arse who wakes up in the morning he doesnt contemplate much apart from a shallow need to get something...in fact being on a website or TV will be considered noteriety enough!!!-more will follow lol

I would look at them and think about signing. The thugs rioting i would do far more than evict though.

i heard about the government one on bbc news last night and i think its a brilliant idea although it does need everyone to get behind it so it can be debated in parliament and hopefully something done about it... my view is why should us the tax payers pay for the benefits and financial help the government hands out to these idiots that quite clearly have no respect for the comunity theyre living in if theyre gonna do everything they have during the riots xxx

Yep same here, tried several times and it just says due to high demand the site is having problems... surely that should tell the government something...
