Im sure they were first created as a practical item of clothing that then turned into a fashion statement and now sadly its used to help hide someone's identity

Can understand why some people may feel intimidated by a bunch of people wearing them and heading towards you.

Yeah, wonder if Mr Cameron is so keen on hugging a Hoodie now.

Sadly too many times it would seem Hoodie = Hoodlum.

I own a couple too, and my sons do and they're no thugs either, hence why I didn't try to suggest everyone that wears them are hoodlums.

I love my hoodies, when I dress down and have one on I get ID'd in Asda lol. Yet never when I go in from work.

I don't know that I look massively younger given that I am 32 but the appearance I give is maybe one of a younger person. Sister is 31 and same happens with her too.

Either way I'm not complaining

It' not the hood themselves which put me off walking on the same side, it's the insistence on wearing them up when there is no need.

Wearing it down your just another kid on the street.

Wearing it up and you are hiding your identity and makes me wonder why

"We - the people in suits - often see hoodies as aggressive, the uniform of a rebel army of young gangsters.

"But hoodies are more defensive than offensive. They're a way to stay invisible in the street. In a dangerous environment the best thing to do is keep your head down, blend in."

David Cameron 2006

I find a lot of the menace associated with hoodies is related to the dark colour of the garment…..

I could never feel intimidated by anyone wearing a bright girlie pink one,,,, well at least I think I couldn’t …..

Maybe that’s the answer,,,,, pass a new law that only allows the sale of hoodies in girlie pink and see how many of these so called thugs deal with that…….

Hmmmmm….. Oh come on !!!. yeah,,,,I know some guys already wear pink too…......but I never said it was a total solution,,,,,, jeeeezzzz

Some shopping centres tried to impose a ban on hoodies but it never held up in law....

OK that one is accepted although if I was in a nudist camp I wouldn't be wearing anything anyway!

haha,,,,,,I know what you mean....although I think I might feel a little shy in the begining,,,but they reckon the first few hours are the hardest to deal with,,,,, and after that,,,,,, hey-hoe...I'd probably not feel the need to cover-up..... and apparently flip-flops are allowed..... and you can also wear somthing on your feet too
