Can we set up some kind of Fab Handyman group for tradespeople who'd be up for helping people out for a small 'discount'?!

That would help me out no end!

A world of my own

I spend most of my work days dealing with contractors.lots of them who have ripped us off or been a bit shoddy. At times I would even consider taking one for the team but...

It's not advertising or a selling a service site or is that what it's becoming?

I had one decorator who never returned my house door keys, never finished job. I phone police, they said it was a civil matter between him and me as i gave him the keys. (yes but not to keep)

Employed a decorator to paint hallway after recommened by plasterer who plastered hallway. Plasterer was great, the ones he recommended to do the painting were not. After the two young guys finished for the day i got back from work, went upstairs to spare room to find 2 beer cans in the room. They shouldnt have been in that room either and its where i keep my knickers.

Or it was just a tongue in cheek comment/idea that can be taken as seriously as you want. Feel free to not read the thread I guess?

Is the whole site not advertising in one form or another though if you want to go down that route?!

Girth11 theres nothing wrong with putting the feelers out mate i know the feeling when its quiot, you can only play with ya nuts so much lol 90% of my work is word of mouth which normally keeps me more than busy but everyone had slow spots and the other 2 sites i use is my builder (can be expensive) and my facebook business page every now and then pay facebook to promote it to people local to me try them if your not on them already. I use my builder for work a fair bit.its like match.com for trades people! I work for a charity and look after all of our scottish services. Top tip make sure your photo on my builder makes you look friendly, and approachable. Scary looking pics can put people off there too.

My builder is ok the only thing i dont like about that site is when someone short lists me for a plastering job for instance i have to pay a fee which is fine, anywhere between 5 and 40 quid depending on the job just to be short listed and then people dont bother to contact me to quote it but i still have to pay the fee that does get on my tits
