Hi all just a quick question, How do you make your wife feel supper loved when she is having a very stressful time at work?, and for the ladies what makes you feel super loved if your very stressed?

It's the little things. Cook her tea, run a bath for when she gets home. Basically sort out the things for at home that she may normally do so she has one less thing to worry about. Just showing your support is enough

I'm sorry to hear your better half is suffering the stresses of work, I can fully sympathise..

The one thing that will help is to listening to her and being supportive of her.

You may not fully understand how she feels or what she is going to, but listening to her and reassuring her will help with her stress.

If she is suffering stress badly then perhaps a suggestion of a stress management course could help her, Southend hospital run a very good scheme and there are very good course notes that can be downloaded from their website that she may find useful.

Ultimately, try to help her accept that she shouldn't worry about things that are outside of her control as she has no influence over them and they will be what they will be.

I think the idea is to make her life a little easier and her know she's loved, maybe her favourite dinner, maybe a nice bath and a glass of wine maybe deal with the kids for the evening, book a evening out ... you married her you know what she likes

OP I think the poster was suggesting that if she is having a tough time at the moment you could do a little more ofthe chores and she does a little less for a short while.

If you normally do 50:50 maybe you could do 60:40 of the household chores for a few weeks.

It might not sound like an ideal situation for you having to do a little more but it will make a massive difference to your wife. Being able to have an extra half hour relaxing after work will help no end. It will probably help you too - stress is a big cause of women losing their sex drive, I'm sure you don't want that to happen!

Right I don't know where to start as so many comments

To be honest I do lots round the house cooking, cleaning, washing feeding the cats and the like

We don't have any kids so that's not problem and we tend to go out for a meal once or twice a week and also out for drinks

She doesn't really ever want to talk about work.

Wish I could run her a bath but we only have a shower.

Can't remember who put it but yes I do know what she likes and do my best to make her happy.

Her work is very stressful and I just wish I had enough so she didn't have to work so hard

I came home once to a fridge filled with favourite foods and my favourite Pjs washed and ready for me. I then found my favourite movie ready to go on the tv, I may have just cried and cuddled but it was an amazingly thoughtful gesture after a horrible day.

It's often the little things that make the difference.

A Turkish Delight and a packet of Hula Hoops speaks a thousand words in my house...

A cuppa brought up when you're in the bath...

And then I've had flowers sent to work with a simple message that just says it all...

So any of the above suggestion, a hug and to know you're there is enough xx

I think the main thing you can do is support her by just being there. It sounds like you already support her in the home with chores, continue to do this. Stressful/demanding jobs can affect the home life in respect to romance etc., so just be aware of that. Keep positive and this will pass. Hope she is fine OP and good luck

For me there are a few things:-

* Listen to her and how she's feeling. Listen to the things that are getting to her.

* Help her develop coping strategies and recognise when things are at a tipping point.

* Her work life balance may suck, so ensure her down time is as stress free and relaxing as possible.

* Hold her to account for the mistakes she makes in handling situations at work (if necessary). Great to be supportive but need to make sure her stress doesn't get taken out or released in the wrong way with the wrong people.

* Like has been said there's something about the little things at home and work that make a massive difference. Prepping dinner, lunch breakfast, flowers etc.

Run her a bubble barh with candles and a glass of wine waiting.

Give her a cuddle.

Offer to hire a hitman for the bastard who's annoying her.

If she takes you up on that offer laugh nervously and say you've lost their number.

Give her a foot

Massage. Or any sort of massage but don't go poking her with your hard on.

Give her another cuddle.

Buy some flower.

Say lots of positive things even if she gets a bit narky.

Just reassure her that whatever she is going through your there and if she wants to talk about it you will listen and not pass judgement. The other stuff is nice to do help cook clean run her a bath but what ever is troubling her is likely to be psychological so it may take time be patient understand and support her.

Oh god, this must be impossible for a guy cos you're natural reaction is to try and offer a solution to whatever a problem is. Sometimes all you have to do is listen and agree!

I've been stressed for 15 months and dealing with a stressful situation and the key to dealing with someone going through a stressful time is just listening, wait for them to ask for your opinion but don't just fire off solutions!
