First impressions can easily stick when you meet someone, over time your view can change.

But how easy if it to read someone's personality when all you get to see is the black and white text on a social media site, and the photos they post?

I got to see some of you recently, and can say how my interaction with a few of you has changed (for the better) because I know a little more of your personality.

Are you a good judge of character? Do you often get it wrong when you've formed an opinion of someone?

Can I ask you Mr bee? Am I the same person here than in real life?

We might think we are, but really it's for others to say.

P.S. paella?

I'm a terrible judge of character online. I misread lots and read far to into things that are said. I need to meet people to form an opinion.

When I first met you, you surprised me. But very few times have I met up with someone and got to meet the same person I thought I was meeting.

I'm completely the other way. I'm wrong more often than right.

.

I try and keep a open opinion when reading what people say on here as I do think its hard to judge someone without having spent some time in their company,

But I do think a lot of people try to hard to get their personality across and that sometimes gives me a negative opinion about them before I have taken time to get to know them

We try not to form opinions before a social or meet as a few have been a bit of a surprise, even after msging for a while!

I hope we come across on our profile honestly....

There is no way someone can tell who I am or what I am like through my profile. I get told 'your not my type' even before face pics are sent.

It's no problem though I see it as doing me a favour as I rarely send the first message anyway.

Hmmm, that's difficult to answer. I read a lot of the posts off people and tend to get a relatively decent idea of what they're like. Not all of people's character comes through online and sometimes it's a surprise to get a more detailed idea of the person behind the profile. But haven't met enough forumites to say my opinions were wrong or spot on. X

The people I have actually met from fab have all been true to their online persona although one wasn't as in your face as she comes across on here and the other a little more innocent looking compared to what we have talked about in pm, But don't judge a book by its cover was very true with this lady, Once undressed the innocent side to here was gone

There are lots of clues to someone's personality in what they write such as: 'Educated and professional' yet they can't spell. Vulgarity: cursing and crudeness. Pushy:They want to meet straight away even though your profile says different. Ignorant:Haven't bothered to read your profile but still message you. Just little pointers that determines our decision to reply or bin

Sometimes people come on here and burn themselves out with the amount of threads they start or posts they make, Trying to come across as the sex god, the perfect Man or the bad boy that they think most Women want, It is usually Men but sometimes Women act this way as well trying to give of the porn star impression,

Just my opinion on some of the people who are on/have been on fab

Initially you can only go by what you see and how a person interacts on here, either with just you or in the forums. I chat a lot and get to know people, On the whole, I do feel I'm a good judge of character so I trust my instincts. I genuinely like the few people I have met so if it doesn't have that 'spark' in person, that's fine and there's nothing lost, still chat, still friendly.

I have been naive and perhaps too trusting though at times but you live and learn.

So that's that first impression thing then. New member of Fab and the way they post forms that opinion and that sticks with you?

I've found that, over time it does change if they stick around, sometimes it's for the better.

I don't judge too much by internet bravado, I want to meet people to see for myself, but even then people put 'faces' on. I'm not 100% sure that you would get a see the true person even on a meet, unless you met regularly?

I'd like to think I'm pretty much the same i.e.; laid back and don't take things too seriously.

A world of my own

I like to think that I am a good judge of character. I've met very few of you in real life, however those I have were just as expected.

Hopefully they thought the same of me. Thankfully no one made a run for it!

There and to the left a bit

I don't think you can get a true 'feel' for someone just by their profile blurb, but add forum posts and messages to that and you start to get a good idea and in most cases with the people I've met from here I've not been too wide of the mark with my perceptions - although you can never really 'know' until you've met in person and even then as someone pointed out above, you won't really know them properly until you've met a few times.

I'm quite good at getting the basic measure of someone. It's the little extra's i like discovering about people. That yes they have good humour, but it's drier than i thought, they are more smiley than i thought they would be. That kind of thing.

I've never been dissapointed on here.

I'm pretty much the same in person as on here, albeit my initial nerves and shyness will hide my true personality for a bit. My veri's say that, and they mention my shyness.
