By all accounts, the vast majority aren't covered by insurance for civil unrest, so possibly not that much.

half heard a radio news article on way home yday about Vince Cable meeting with insurers to determine whether the events were Riots or Civil Unrest as there is a legal difference which could mean insurers liable or the government

(am guessing that whilst he wants quick payouts - he's also expecting insurers to cough up rather than him)

Insurers are actually paying out if a polcy has cover for riot, alot do. It's whether it is classed a riot or not which determine if they can recover costs from the police. Either way we all lose somehow
