"Looking forward to the Dark Tower film, the books were brilliant plus Idris Elba and Matthew McConaghy are great in anything " I'm worried about these. I loved the Gunslinger and most of the Dark Tower series. I like Idris Elba (a lot) but I always think of Roland as rangy, with this authority and strength coming from his actions, bearing and look in his eyes. Elba is a bit too developed for that, but he may be able to convince me if he acts that softer side with the inner steel.

I know this is being done as a first film, and not following the story exactly as written, but I'm worried that I will end up thinking they missed an important narrative.

"Some of the Culture novels by Iain M Banks would make truly phenomenal films/TV if done properly. Whether or not they're actually filmable without costing the earth to get right is a reason why they may not ever be done." I'm not sure anything is impossible anymore. It just takes the right imagination to see it produced in the medium that will make it work. If you're in London before the end of August go and see the Sci-fi exhibition at The Barbican. It's brilliant. Hog the first interactive screen; I wish I had.

Good call, Against a Dark Background or The use of weapons would be great.

"Problem with "faithful" film adaptations of books is they are usualy shit. Books have a lot of extra mechanisms to give information to the reader a film doesnt. In a film you can't just out and out give the characters thoughts without it being retarded. Where as in a book its very easy for the author to write out the characters inner monologue in a way that takes zero action time. Where as in a film you cant just have everyone stand around for 30+ seconds while a character does a voice over of thier inner thoughts " Dune being the exception ... it worked brilliantly for David Lynch

"Watching Constantine at the minute and although I enjoy the film, I really wish they would do a true to the original adaption. They did a series on Amazon which was close but never got the reception. What characters or books would you like to see adapted to the big screen?" I am a great Hellblazer fan, and although I liked Constantine the film it was not Hellblazer. I forced myself to watch 5 minutes of Constantine the tv series and 2 minutes in I was watching Hellblazer, relief. I think it is easy to knock adaptations it is rare when they do a good job but loved Miller's secret service and Kingsman was better than the comic. Hellboy was done well as was Blade (film not tv series). I am awaiting Garth Ennis's The Boys' adaption that is in development hell. I would love Netflix to do '100 Bullets'. I know there was TV series of it (and the one episode I watched led me to the books) but a film or Netflix adaption of the Harry Dresden books.

Wanted was also very different to the comic but it's another one where I enjoyed both mediums

I think his take on Punisher was brilliant. I also loved the anti hero he introduced Barracuda. Completely politically incorrect in terms of race but brilliant. Wanted was my favourite comic mini series for a long time but the film did not do it for me. If they had called it anything else then it would have been good. Following from Constantine I would love to see a Papa Midnite spin off. On the bizarre side again Criminal Macabre by Steve Niles. A decent take on Vampirella or Hack and Slash.

" The story arc with barracuda was brutal but a great read hopefully he'll be introduced into The punisher series, maybe season 2. I really should check his other work out Ready Player One looks like it's going to be a great film
