i've been thinking of getting one all 'summer' but storage is an issue.

i have no outdoor space at home and with me having a major 'anti-clutter' OCD, it would drive me demented to have it in the hallway

i might just have to buy a unicycle

Great idea and many are doing this.

Good luck and go safely. I'd consider buying a helmet when you get the bike aswell.

i was thinking of a bike with a basket on the front and investing in a t suit so i could do a passable miss marple (a la margaret rutherford of course, none of this modern nonsense)

Well as you can I always ride my bike wearing 4 inch heels and a short dress, its good for the legs!

Don't forget a pair of proper lycra cycling shorts with padding sewn in. I've ridden 100 mile rides in those with no problem except knackered legs, whereas 10 miles wearing anything else is agony.

Go for a bike with an aluminium frame. They're much lighter and easier to ride. Especially up hills!

Also don't use high gears, your legs get tired quicker and you just build up muscle rather than burn off fat.

The suspensions on Bromptons are next to non-existence.

With only 16in wheels, they are only good for short journeys around town and cities on good roads.

I've just started cycling to work. Only 6 miles a day but I really enjoy it! Also we have a shower room in the office so that's great!

Nah, SDG Bel-Air is the way forward!!

Actually, saddles are a personal thing but don't fall into the idea that a huge, wide and padded saddle is the right one, if it's too wide for your hips it will cripple you and rub you raw!

Not really that expensive when you consider the engineering involved and that a lot of the components are specific to those bikes alone.

Couldn't expect it to be cheap as it is a serious bike, not like the toys sold for less than £100 in places like Halfords and mail order catalogues. Plus it has to fold easily and conveniently without loosing too much stiffness.

great saddles!,been around in racing circles for years now,well worth the investment and i have 5 bikes fitted with these saddles.
