"No dont salute

You must know its song then...the one for sorrow, two for joy?

And so on.

Sure every region of UK has a different song for them.

I can remember up to 9 I think of

1 for sorrow

2 for joy

3 for a girl

4 for a boy

5 for silver

6 for gold

7 for a secret never to be told

Yes knew about it

When I was little used to search for them all

As I was taught...

One for sorrow.

Two for joy

Three for a girl

Four for a boy

Five for six pence

Six for gold

Seven for a secret never to be told

Eight for a kiss.

Nine for a wish

And I can't remember any more. Is there any more?

Yes I've heard others say that many moons ago about evil. But I've always just saluted. Haha sometimes I just go with it....the salute...what the hell...but other times...do a sly one...like I'm scratching my head haha

Cool..will add that to my salute... ha it will be a pain here though...are loads of them.

I personally love them, but I hear they kill all the other birds or drive them out of the area...like a bully in the bird world?

Anyone know of truth in them being a bully?

I would imagine like a lot of these things. They go back a long way. Like passed down. I guess perhaps this bird being a scavenger...perhaps is old dark tale behind it.

I often wonder about sayings like that and "Gordon bennet"

So perhaps ditch the metal detector for a ladder and get me some rings and sparkly things from the thiefs home

(I'd never actually do that, im veggie, love all animal, actually like magpies, but most see as vermin)

I thought this was going to be one of those phrases denoting some sexual behavior that it's wise not to look up.
