"Depends on your diet as well"

This

If you trying to lose weight then all the exercise in the world is trumped by a bad diet

You should see visible results in three weeks.

Good luck

Depends on what the gym plan involves as well. When I add increase cardiovascular I tend to notice a difference after roughly a couple of weeks.

Everyone is different though. Hard to really comment properly without knowing how much more exercise the new gym sessions are adding to the amount you already do.

If you're new to serious exercise, then the progress is usually quite quick. As with all things it depends on the effort you put in, but assuming that you try as hard as you can, you WILL see measurable progress in two weeks.

Keep in mind though, if you are looking to loose weight or build muscle, then diet is a bigger factor than exercise. It is quite easy to eat enough "extra" food to compensate for the exercise. If you get your diet right & exercise well you will make the BEST progress.

Cal.

And good luck xx

"What is best sort of simple diet to follow?"

I've done the paleo diet before, and intend to again. It's basically cutting out everything processed. There's a bit of leeway when it comes to dairy products, but apart from that: meat, fish, fruit, veg, nuts, honey, maple syrup. No rice, pasta or pulses.

Have plenty of fiber also. The gym and workouts have visible results but my v advice is for you to look b for the smallest changes: be it higher levels of endurance of able to do a few more reps in a set, soon your gains will stack up to an even more noticeable difference.

I'm not expert at all so some information here may be a little off. In sure someone will correct me

When I was getting in to shape I...

Upped my water intake to 2-3 litres a day (a lot of weight can be water retention if you usually drink fizzy pop or next to no water at all)

Meats and root vegetables for tea, my fave was sirloin steak with roast carrots and parsnips

I also found smoothies were a great way of getting my 5 a day (sometimes added protein powder depending on what exercise I had done)

And I tried to avoid processed food where possible (bread, pastry, chocolate, etc)

No it's for muscle repair, if your doing lots of exercise you are going to need protein in your diet or expect lots of muscle aching. Not necessarily powder, chicken is a good source as well

And it's a supplement, you shouldn't base your whole diet on protein powder

Food wise, just cut out the crap and be selective with carbs, at least initially.

Different things can work better for different people but real food should work for everyone, you don't want to jeopardise your health just to lose a few pounds.

Central

Are you gauging changes by what you see, measure etc or other factors?

Gauge by how you feel, what you can accomplish, your improvements to wellbeing etc. Exercise alone is a poor weight loss pursuit for lasting weight loss - I don't know what your goals are but I'd aim for something that is sustainable, whether this is fitness level, weight or whatever.

And ensure that you're not going to be demotivated from having unrealistic expectations or start/stop routines or if you plateau in places.

Good luck

As long as it's the 100% stuff then it's good. When they add sugar salt and palm oil....it's crap.

Usually it takes about 3 months before you can see a difference, take a pic of yourself as you are now, then again in 3 months time, you won't really see it yourself unless you have a point of reference, others around you who don't see you that often will notice before you do.

Exercise can only do so much. I lost nearly 7 stone in just under a year purely through exercise and didn't lose another ounce once I got down to 15 stone. My weight loss stopped completely because I eat too much crap food.

Not meeting

As others have said it all depends on diet, the old saying abs are made in the kitchen is so true, if your going to put yourself through it then its pointless eating junk.

Seems to me like excessive exercise for a beginner, but you should see significant changes with 3 months.

I've not been to the gym, not joined a slimming class and I've lost a stone and a half since last Christmas.

You don't have to have these quick fixes.

I just cut out all the crap I ate plus slightly smaller portions at meals.

The best advice I ever got was it's all Maths

Eat less calories than you burn = weight loss. It works!

You may want to tone at the gym too but it's really that simple
