EU Diective - Credit card fees banned

From January, extra fees imposed by organizations for payment by credit or debit cards will be banned.

Now it will be easier to understand the real costs of buying tickets etc and to not have to work out how to avoid them etc.

Companies are supposed to only levy their real costs atm but many aren't seemingly doing this.

Good riddance

No extras for the cinema, flights, paying for driving license etc. Any other areas that we'll save?

I just saved a fortune by paying from Germany for a flight, where no extra was imposed (though in £sterling, not €}.

Should have happened agaes ago. Such fees are already not allowed in the US and it really bothered me when we first moved here. Especially since you guys are so big on the stated price including taxes and other fees. It always seemed inconsistent.

We won't be subject to EU regulations soon, so they probably will stay

We used to have it here but businesses have power. I don't know if the government's mass clearing out of EU influenced laws will mean that this will only last a year or so

May not get that far, EU directives have to be incorporated into sovereign law, why would parliament debate vote and rubber stamp it if we are leaving?

Look how long it took for the smoking ban to get implemented in every country. Ireland were about 2 years ahead of the UK, Greece about 3 years behind.
