Does anyone have any family with dementia or work with dementia clients fancy a natter about dementia?its a very sad disease but interesting what makes them tick what they like?and don't like etc...any good ?bad experiences with dementia?

Quite correct. Very sad condition. And no joking matter. On the bright sode you can tell the same joke over and over.

I often hear the same stories over and over but it makes them happy and laugh so its all good

in our family we joke about it helps him through dark days has he been diagnosed 6 month we joke about the 20 he owes me

Its important to keep their spirits up definetly they can get depressed and down ,anxious confused etc...

My nan has Alzheimer's. I also work with a lot of dementia patients due to my job.

It's a horrible disease. Maybe not so bad to start with but it's the progression that is really sad.

I work with dementia residents..really love my job. Like that no 2 days are the same and the old biddies are some of the funniest people I've ever met. You can be laughing till you cry 1 day and have a cracked rib the next... You just take the good with the bad tho. I love seeing the pictures of how they used to look.....its really sad tho as some of them are shadows of themselves and unrecognizable. Also feel sad when some of the families come in and there is no communication. Even worse when you never see family x

My grandfather had Dimentia. He suffered for 10 years before finally letting go. It was aweful to see him completely oblivious to all those that loved him. I'm so glad that I took my 1st son to meet him at 1 month old. I couldn't hold back the tears when I heard him say "grandson" when I introduced him. He died a week later.

Similar story for me, I'm so glad my grandmother got to meet my daughter. All but one of my grandparents had a form of dementia and now having to go through it again with a parent. Such a cruel disease
