I think it would be a very good idea, so many forum users seem to forget the thread search option and just post without checking if their is a similiar recent post.

On another forum I use the mods stop these and give a link to the original subject thread.

No. I think established members and forum participants sometimes forget that there are new members joining every day who will not have the inclination to trawl through loads of past threads and when they take that deep breath and first step to post would find it very offputting if they were told sorry mate 'we' have already done that subject so your post is rejected. Bit of a kick in the teeth to newcomers.

Its fine how it is I think.

No... yes it can be annoying reading the same old subject/s coming up time and time again but it may be the first time for the OP.

just ignore and move on if it annoys...

I do think it is ok to refer the OP to the search option as previous threads have some great advice from posters no longer here.

While annoying, always polite to point people in the correct direction.

The art of searching is dead, many people want it handed on a platter.

for example, 21 threads containing 'bbw' in the last 8 weeks .........

(am sure there are others, that's just 1 that sticks in my head so am not pointing fingers in that direction)

i hasten to add, i am playing devils advocate to a certain degree here as i see both _iewpoints are valid

i think more than anything, it would be an admin nightmare to keep a track of -adding additional non essential costs to the upkeep of the site, thus potentially pushing it into the 'paid site' direction

which as we all know is another well worn repeat forum

Sometimes a new slant on an already covered subject can be found with new members posting on it. So no, there shouldn't be any limits on number of threads - although I would advocate a total ban on the 'Would you/above' threads. A games forum needed methinks. Lump them all in there.

site managers' decision methinks. Many threads have to be closed in anycase when they get too big.

posters do not have the power to decide what others post...just as it should be. If a thread annoys ignore it! People who get so easily annoyed are prob spending too much time on the site.

Ahhhhh....threads....tha takes me back...to the time I was sat knitting a new scarf. Had whiled away a few hours before the cat ran of with my bal of wool and pulled my scarf apart as it galloped up the stairs.....

.

.

but in answer to your question....no!

.

.

There are a lot of threads posted here, most are by regular forum members....but duplicate threads can throw up different angles, and different _iewpoints on a subject, and new members tentatively posting for the first time may not have trawled through everythig else that has been posted before.

.

.

Bring them all on and enjoy the variety of life and other people's opinions
