"im only after some gel ones with a french polish finish, ive a wedding to go too and want them to look pretty " If you have nice natural nails a gel french manicure looks lovely. If they are uneven length the manicurist will make the illusion with the white tips she applies as she paints that they are all same length. I have had a french on my toes which lasted for ages because you cant see regrowth as much as on fingers. Plus toenails take longer to grow.

"Im lucky too mine are long and natural..not had the need for gel or acrylic." Me too but the point of the gel manicure is the type of coating and its durability compared to an ordinary polish. The varnish they apply is cured under an ultra violet light so is dry instantly. It lasts for up to three weeks - and doesnt chip or peel. Its great coming home from the salon knowing youre not going to knock it and smudge the effect or have to wear flip flops for an hour till its really hard.

"any preference which is best for the nail? and which has the better finish? " Well, the trusty old Claw Hammer gives a good hard knock but it's a more heavy duty hammer and can make a right mess of softer nails. The Ball Pein is the engineer's hammer of choice as it has a smaller head on it and when used correctly delivers a powerful punch right where it's needed and doesn't scuff the nail too much. Variations are the Cross and Straight Pein and Cross Pein Pin hammers. If delicacy is of primary importance then the Rubber Mallet is good for hammering smaller nails and leaves little damage if used in conjunction with a cloth over the nail before hammering it. Then we have our ultra heavy duty hammers: Sledge and Club, but be warned that they will pretty much wreck any nail they come into contact with. A Joiner's Mallet is made of wood and shouldn't be used for hammering nails with. ~ So there you go. you're armed with all the info you need now to go out there and sort those nails out once and for all!!
