I have a gel on my toenails at the moment it lasts a good month. I wouldnt put either on my fingernails as some degree of 'sanding down of the nailbed has to happen and I think this can cause damage.

Both finishes take ages to remove though.

I have gel......tried acrylic once and didn't like the finish or shape and they lasted 5 minutes! I've had gel for at least 6 years now, I dread to think what my natural nails are like

.

If only a temporary thing then look at the stick on nails for sale in places such as B**ts or S*p**drug.

I've had acrylic nails for 20 years, but my nails were thin and shit before, but I get so many complimets on my nails cos I don;t have the square tips. Mine are a natural shape. Most assume that I sit at home, do nothing and have staff lol

I had bio sculpture gels a coupla times, they look amazing until the nails start to grow.

When I removed the gel, it left my nails in a dreadful condition, they were paper thin, flaky and cracked. Taken months to recover, never again

All natural here. Lucky but have used glue ons in the past. They are great for a event without too much damage.

If you have nice natural nails a gel french manicure looks lovely. If they are uneven length the manicurist will make the illusion with the white tips she applies as she paints that they are all same length. I have had a french on my toes which lasted for ages because you cant see regrowth as much as on fingers. Plus toenails take longer to grow.

Me too but the point of the gel manicure is the type of coating and its durability compared to an ordinary polish. The varnish they apply is cured under an ultra violet light so is dry instantly. It lasts for up to three weeks - and doesnt chip or peel.

Its great coming home from the salon knowing youre not going to knock it and smudge the effect or have to wear flip flops for an hour till its really hard.

Well, the trusty old Claw Hammer gives a good hard knock but it's a more heavy duty hammer and can make a right mess of softer nails.

The Ball Pein is the engineer's hammer of choice as it has a smaller head on it and when used correctly delivers a powerful punch right where it's needed and doesn't scuff the nail too much. Variations are the Cross and Straight Pein and Cross Pein Pin hammers.

If delicacy is of primary importance then the Rubber Mallet is good for hammering smaller nails and leaves little damage if used in conjunction with a cloth over the nail before hammering it.

Then we have our ultra heavy duty hammers: Sledge and Club, but be warned that they will pretty much wreck any nail they come into contact with.

A Joiner's Mallet is made of wood and shouldn't be used for hammering nails with.

~

So there you go. you're armed with all the info you need now to go out there and sort those nails out once and for all!!

I love my acrylic nails. And if applied by a skilled nail technician they shouldn't damaged the nail bed too much. My nails were knackered due to years of biting and now I've kicked the habit and my hands look great! Plus mr says he likes the look of them wrapped round his cock!!! Lol
