Leading on from the other thread ' birth name ' do you actually like your name or have you secretly always resented your parents choice.?

I like mine even though it can be shortened in quite a few ways. Hated it as a child though, I was the only one in primary school and I never got anything personalized for Christmas.

When I went to high school there were 2 others with the same name, which was quite a relief!!!

My parents thought I was going to be a boy and they had a name picked out.

I came along so they just stuck an a on the boys name and that's my name.

It is a normal girls name though it is one of the names that could be extinct soon.

I love my name. Not many people have heard of my name. My sisters names are unusual too. My mum just liked to be different i guess but i have to applaud her for the choice of names.

Mine isn't very common in the UK-I've never met another adult with my name, only one teenager. It's ok, but my family and friends all shorten it and a lot of people call me something entirely different.

the amount of times I have to spell it...

at one point i actually made a list with all the varieties of my name I came across... have been called everything pretty much as people don't get it. didn't like a person calling me victor- i mean I am still female after all but was rather amused about being called whiskey...
