My mum wanted to call me one name, my biological dad wanted a different name but it was similar to what my mum wanted.

My mum won, and her choice is prettier and less common than what I could've been called.

I kinda get sick and tired about people thinking I have made my name up because of the spelling, what can I can say? My mother was obviously an innovative person as it is more common today

My parents always told me they just opened a book of baby names and chose one that wasn't easily made into a nickname....except that it totally can be easily made into a nickname AND they misspelled my middle name.

When I was born my parents didn't know they were having twins. This was before scans were commonplace and the first they knew was when the midwife said "hang on, there's another one."

They had chosen 3 names for one baby. My sister got two, both pretty common for people of our age. I got the other plus my grandmothers name, both much less common in people our age.

I was almost named Lisa Marie after Lisa Marie Presley, but my cousin beat my parents to it with her Daughter born just a few weeks prior.

So my mother changed her mind.

I prefer the name i was given, it suits me better than Lisa Marie!!

I'm not called by my birth name. My mum picked a name she thought couldn't be shortened, but when I was a week old my uncle came back from the Falklands, walked in and said "she's not a xxxxx she's a xxxxx" - I've been called it ever since

My mother chose my first name and my father chose my middle name, based on an actress and the winning horse he backed the day I was born.
