P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

I had one a few years back. It was my birthday and I'd been to the pub with a few mates at dinner time, nipped home for the 3 S's before going back out for darts that evening. Got the clippers out and thought I looked quite Beckhamesque

Walked into the pub later to a big round of applause from everyone except ma then missus who said "What the fuck have you done?"

It was a very wonky Mohawk

My ex girlfriend did... when we got together, she had a stubby little mohawk which she dyed either pink or blue, with longer hair on the sides and fringe. Then when the mohawk got longer she got rid of the fringe, shaved the sides to a grade 2 and dyed her hawk different colours, including neon yellow once.

She was all piercings, DcMartens & bondage trousers.

it probably was but it did sound really good the way you said it. i think because you mentioned blue, pink and yellow, coz they're my favourite colours.

with it being short though i had trouble visualising it.

luckily nobody minded at my job but i had to wear a hairnet and hat so it was covered mostly. and there were no hair dyes in those days, nothing extreme anyway.

thanks, i did have the rainbow hair but only for a few dyes and then i got sick of having to mess about so much. might bother doing it again for this summer though.

not sure, i think it's lots of things.

from having to be more tolerant of other cultures as they have the right to be different (and people understanding others have that right). to certain, derogatory stereotyped cultures being given a voice louder than the medias. and of course people having more confidence in themselves and being willing to express themselves, because as they discover others have rights they can easily know that these rights apply to themselves. and when more people do the unconventional those who were thinking about it, or admire it, get the courage to enter into it themselves. all sorts of things will influence, i think mainly themselves and how they feel inside and being allowed to express that is the main reason.

yet looking back on the world, across all cultures, it has always been one civilisation pushing its beliefs onto others in the past. in todays societies very few places in the world do not have the internet of some description... even some remote tribes have mobile phones which give more access to others in the world so the no longer feel isolated and remote. which again will impact onto those with "lifestyle choices" and by that im referring to piercings, hairstyles ect ect. seeing a punk with stretchers in his ears and a mohawk he could be taken as one of a particular tribe.

yet no matter what the reasons for the change in peoples perspectives on the world we still seem to fall short in other areas like race, religion ect ect. as far as i am concerned there is only one race, the human race and we are all apart of it and the moment we stop putting ourselves into preset boxes the sooner we can start to really drop barriers even further.... if that makes sense

"I got threatened with being expelled for my foot long mohawk in school unless I got it cut. So I got it shaved off and they threw me out for being a skinhead

typical. don't know how i got away with purple hair and a white fringe at school. all the punk girls got told off for having mohawks so didn't shave it off but went to school with their hair down and were allowed. i think my school just gave up lol.

at least you work for yourself and can do what you want, i like that. "

I had a Mohawk in my late teens but wore it flat for work ,,, now at 50 just had my hair cut to a Mohawk a couple of months ago and added bright red a couple of weeks ago ,,, I just love it ,, people I work with accept me and my hard work nothng to do with my hair

"yet looking back on the world, across all cultures, it has always been one civilisation pushing its beliefs onto others in the past. in todays societies very few places in the world do not have the internet of some description... even some remote tribes have mobile phones which give more access to others in the world so the no longer feel isolated and remote. which again will impact onto those with "lifestyle choices" and by that im referring to piercings, hairstyles ect ect. seeing a punk with stretchers in his ears and a mohawk he could be taken as one of a particular tribe.

yet no matter what the reasons for the change in peoples perspectives on the world we still seem to fall short in other areas like race, religion ect ect. as far as i am concerned there is only one race, the human race and we are all apart of it and the moment we stop putting ourselves into preset boxes the sooner we can start to really drop barriers even further.... if that makes sense "

oh yes, that has always been done and mostly by using fear, force, threats, death even. and in more recent times by bribes, of taking people out of poverty, addiction, or other social problems.

yeah you totally make sense. there is more of a vibe now that we understand ourselves and others and there isn't much to divide us.i know i make jokes about the idiocracy but as a species our cognitivity has changed a lot since the 1950s even and we have a less black and white way of looking at things and a more grey one. this really helps us to understand more.

never thought about the tribes thing before, where did you hear about that or find out? it sounds interesting, and kind of funny they might think we are a tribe coz i guess we are in a way. not like their own which is more close knit but it's something to bond over.

it looks really nice, i really like that colour as well. mine is much longer than yours and i know i'm never going to spike it or iron it but i am thinking to backcomb it or scrunch it.

i've got tattooed hands and do worry about working for someone else at some point, glad your hair is no big deal.

There are lots of sources about it...oddly enough i was watching oa gorden ramsey program and visited a cannibal tribe in the middle of africa... Miles and miles away from civilization as such and he was swamped by kids waving camera phones at him. He was more concerned about becoming dinner on the trip in but was just as shocked when the tribal leaders said mobile phones had be introduced only a few weeks prior to his arrival

There are still tribes now which are almost being forced into a digital age with mobile technologies being dropped on them today... In someways a good thing but then how much impact are we having there? Is it always good to bring new technology into areas which dont even have clean running water? How does reversing the process go for them? We have had decades, centuries to adapt (100 years ago or so we started flying properly) and yet its heres a phone from a white devil you have never seen before where you are so remote and we are building a tower over there.

And thats even before the world understands what the impacts on our health are from these small devices we carry with us... Mobile tech is still new

And yes i have gone off topic a lil again lol oops

you've gone into a topic that is totally out of my depth also. i don't mind it's off topic either, love learning new things and enjoyed reading that.

i do think we are more adaptable than we give ourselves credit for. but yes to have the world relying on technology isn't the best. i even waste half my life on the internet and if i take a break from it i am so productive it's unreal, whereas one time i was always productive...if the internet left my life now i'd be gutted, probably adapt to that but have a harder time doing so. scary indeed.

"Ive never had the guts to even try a mohawk

i have. first time i was 17, lol. had one with 2 strips so i could make 'cat ears'.

Haha ace. Im kinda sad to say i've never even tried to colour my hair either.

use the wash out ones if you fancy giving it a go?

it's hard maintaining awesome colour looks though, like the rainbow."

Your hair is amazing. I would not have the patience.

I prefer the shorter ones rather than the really long ones. How they get them to stay up so well is beyond me. Hair lacquer is really shite these days. In my nans day you could use hair lacquer and walk through a tornado and your hair would still be on point.

thanks. first time you do it's not too bad, but after that you have to be careful not to blend colours or you end up with brown bits.

egg whites, or even starch and an iron. that's what people used when i was young anyway.

think when we were young it was twenty layers of hairspray, we might be responsible for the depletion of the ozone now i think about it.

I had to retrieve my cloths out of the bin few times after mi mum went on the attack. She used to try sneak them in to the bin the day the din men were due.

oh right, your clothes, lol. i thought it was to do with your hair.

i've sneaked some of my sons clothes in the bin, he didn't notice. he's not a punk though, his favourite tops went mouldy and he still kept wearing them.
