Start by working out what's caused/causing it.

Float. Warm, salted water. Perfect peace and isolation, gentle stretching exercises and an hour to do it. Works wonders for my arthritic back, hips and knees.

Look them up

Not real lot that can be done unfortunately buddy but deep heat can help ease it a bit.

Just remember wash your hands after.

If it's a weight problem then the OP is doing well losing weight, if it's muscular then stretching can help, if it's a joint problem then a GP visit is my advice.

Herts

Depends on what it is. So I wouldn't recommend anything incase it made things worse.

I.E: when I had sciatica, I was doing all the wrong stretches, thinking it was just muscle pain and was apparently making it worse.

If you can aquire a TENS machine though, that really seems to help most things...

A lot of sciatica type pain and lower back pain is caused by a tight muscle called the piriformis. You can check YouTube for videos etc, but as already said, a professional diagnosis is what's required

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Alternating between a hot water bottle and a cold pack every hour will relieve some of the tension and loosen your back up.

Painkillers will help, ibuprofen will deal with pain and inflammation, codeine will help the pain... Check with the chemist or your doctor if you haven't taken either before.

Keep moving and no lifting anything heavy or awkward.

It could be caused by a multitude of sins so if it doesn't start to get better within a week, go and see your dr..

Unfortunately, beyond that, there isn't much that can be done as I well know as I'm suffering myself at the moment..

I know you probably won't reply to me but for everyone's else's sake, have you done anything that might have caused it?

I didn't mean that.

I meant find out why you have the back pain, see a doctor or physiotherapist who can diagnose it better and advise you on the treatment for it.

OP keep moving - the worst thing you can do for back pain is rest, you just seize up and it gets worse. Take painkillers and see your doctor if it's still bad after the weekend.

Long term your weight loss will really help. I lost 7 stone and it made a big difference to my long term back pain and sciatica.

A tens machine does help. I use mine instead of taking painkillers most of the time.

General painkillers, hot baths - as others say. Any jacuzzi that you can use? The heat and gentle massage should also provide relief.

Alternate between ibuprofen and paracetamol (if you can take them), avoid sitting for long periods of time. Get some Volterol 24 hour gel and rub on affected area. DO NOT use the gel if taking Ibuprofen though.

if it's eased from a hot bath there is a good chance it's muscular rather than skeletal gentle exercise like walking o stop it seizing up and painkillers, it's not advised to use anti-inflammatories till 72 hours after the initial time of injury but after that take them but they take a couple of days to start working properly if it doesn't ease after a few days then it's a trip to the GP

Do not use painkillers for two reasons

1. They mask the injury

2. When they wear off your back to square 1

Heat packs and stretching are the way forward

This, you need to know what's causing the back pain before you can treat it.
