Do you study the ingredients in products before purchasing?

Are there products you won't buy because they contain stuff you're not comfortable with?

I avoid products with palm oil in, as I'm concerned about the ecological damage that's being done in some areas because of its growing production, for example.

Ditto palm oil sucks, not a fan of syrups unless it's maple, artificial sweeteners can go fuck themselves or margarine too

What about the companies that support it's production? Cock-a-Cola and it's subsidiaries use palm oil in manufacturing but not as ingredients?

Yes I'm a lable reader. Always have. Always will..I like to know what I'm eating. You are what you eat and all that.. it used to be mainly to check for meat products or fats/geletine, but nowadays look at whole picture, but then I'm mainly only organic and have been for near 20 year. Prefer to cook fresh. It doesn't have to cost lot. Nature provides a bounty all year round. Just need to know what, where, season etc

Palm oil I hate. Truly do given distruction of apes lands for palm. Makes me sick thinking about what we put in our foods and feed to kids.

I know lots of label readers, its the norm now I think, however people don't tell others so much

My youngest has a severe nut allergy and has to have an epi pen on standby, so i have to check ingredients on everything. Food, Bathing products, Sun tan lotion. All sorts of stuff.

I'm lactose intolerant so i try to avoid that if i can. Or just make sure there is a toilet nearby.

I avoid pork products, this is due to seeing piglets on a lorry off to market, one had its curly tail poking out of the window, I haven't eaten pork since. XXX

I dunno, but maybe it's a coincidence but every time I have seen a guy order soya milk in a coffee shop, he has looked like he is full of estrogen... Softly spoken, skinny fat with B cups, head down, looking sheepish.

Maybe it's just my confirmation bias.

Do you consume it? It was the guys at the gym that I first heard talk about it and I'm assuming you train.

That's a cause vs effect argument. Do they look like that due to soy or do they d*unk soy because they have a preference to not drink moo juice because it "healthy" and they have been dead bollocks about cows milk?

Yeah, I train and I read. A lot. And yes, I consume soy but only in soy sauce. To be honest there it's so much hype and miss information in the training game it astounds me and I end up just shaking my head and normally don't get involved. It's really not that complicated but people will fixate on details that make precisely 0.0001% difference when missing out the fundamentals.

However. If not consuming soy doesn't effect you and you don't obsess over it then there's no issue with NOT consuming it. It's just down to preference really.

Anything called 'low-fat' or 'diet' is basically a 'chemical shit storm' and best avoided your very right!

I hear you on costs. However can you not grow some things, even on window sills. Also nature provides a surprisingly large bounty year round, but its having the time and knowing what to get where to go.

I tapped silver birch at start of this year and drank the fresh sap over few weeks..had never done it before...nettle soup..seriously good for you...and can be added to soups and dishes to name one thing you will know, but is lots of stuff..yes all seasonal but picking wild fruit...making jams, chutneys... for use later in year.

I'm not saying its easy far from it, but eating well does not need to cost a lot. Sprout seeds..is the highest level of food known to man. Very easy on a window

i was quite intrigued a study showed that full fat milk taken in proportion so not guzzling 6 pints a day is far healthier for the body as low fat skimmed has a higher proportion of good stuff taken out during processing

There's always a bandwagon to be jumped on. Especially on social media.

Like I say, when you actually dig into the research, unless you're eating it daily, for long periods in large amounts. It's not going to cause any issues.

In addition, oestrogen is as important a hormone for men as it is for women. The levels are obviously vastly different, however it has multiple positive benefits and requirements in the male body.

I avoid (as much as possible) caffiene because it makes me ill plus i don't need any stimulants.

I also avoid artificial sweetners because they make me ill.

Those i avoid on my consultants advice.

I don't eat nuts because i'm allergic to them.

I avoid palm oil when possible for reasons others have said.

I rarely buy/eat low fat/low sugar foods.

I/we mostly cook from scratch. I generally eat fairly simple foods anyway. However i am obsessed with cereals at the moment in an attempt to boost my vitamin D !

Yes. I always read the ingredients.

Calories, sugar, fat, and the whole ingredient list too.

I think to buy things where I can actually understand what's in it.

I know what a tomato is, I don't know what e265 is, or xanatham gum, nor do I understand why there should be 20+ ingredients in a loaf of bread, when there should only be flour, water, salt, yeast and maybe a little fat.

It's startling, when you actually look at food and compare it to the packaging. Museli, with 36 grams of sugar per 100, or ropey looking sausages that actually have a higher lean meat content than the posh pack and taste much better....

I don't avoid any farmed foods because of the damage on the environment, if it wasn't one product it'd be another.

If you look at all products. They all have a detrimental effect on the environment..

For example, cattle farming worldwide apparently produces more greenhouse gasses than the air transport industry combined, so Ok, cows fart alot and organically produced beef cows fart even more because of their natural diet.

The only foods I will avoid are ones with chemicals that are known to have detrimental effects of fish that are overfished..

Everything else I will deal with in moderation.

I prefer to eat my fruit, rather than blend and drink it. I do occasionally have a smoothie with a little ice cream added.

i used to a lot as my daughter has chrohns - in the early years of her having it we tried lots of various exclusions - shes now veggie - practically vegan and manages her flares up much better -

Yes and yes.

Being vegetarian, I tend to read ingredients lists pretty thoroughly anyway, but there are so many things I avoid for other reasons as well. I also avoid certain brands because of political affiliations and the like (more so in the U.S. than here). Picky picky

Been totally natural for past 16 years, after I noticed that all men's deodorant had aluminium in it...and it got me thinking... my arm pits a gland... why would I want to put aluminium into my body daily.

I guess same for women's deodorant.

All ALU and nasty crap to go into a gland
