I keep getting told I shouldn't answer all my messages as this gives guys the wrong impression, that I am interested, and only ends up with me getting abuse when they find out I am not! To me its just manners...but its defo making me think, maybe I am wrong!

As a single guy, who obviously gets no replies sometimes I can honestly say it's a little disheartening. I can see why some don't reply as it takes time and the amount of messages single ladies must get is a factor too.

Sometimes though even a polite no is welcomed.

Do what you feel is right hun. I reply to many that send complimets just to say thanks. If they want to chat further I politely say I'm not interested in chatting but wanted to thank them for the compliments, none have really got arsey with me but if they did I couldn't really give a toss, they are the one with issues.

I'm sure it is...whenever I see I have received a message I always assume it's one of those (not from you, I've never messaged you)

There and to the left a bit

It's up to you how you run your profile OP and know it goes against the "norm" but site FAQS make it quite cLear that no reply should be taken as a "thanks but no thanks" and any single guy that can't accept that, or can't accept your polite no thanks without resorting to abuse, isn't worth worrying about to be honest

Do what you want to do.

We'll usually reply to messages (when meeting) even if we're not interested.

I can count on one hand, the times we've got abuse or hassle back. Most, thank us for replying and send best wishes etc.

However, if your finding it a pain and a full time job. Then only reply to those that interest you. Fab should be enjoyable.

I always send a polite response to a "thanks, but no thanks"

yes it is only polite but not when you get abused for it..

I only respond to people I know now

This.

OP if you say no thanks and they reply asking "but whyyyyy" just delete. You already said no thanks. If they are abusive report them.

Do what you want to do, I've been here for 9 years and have learnt to avoid receiving abuse is to ignore messages, it doesn't resolve the whole problem but it does reduce them

kind of know where you are coming from OP. Some seem to find a no thanks as a green light because they get a reply. I've had it as well.

I think you should just ignore all the messages except ours!! I know that may come a cross as a bit bias and selfish, but we don't care you're super hot!!!

So as a newbie and single guy I get why I dont get replied back by everyone but any that do and it's usually no thanks I was respond thanking them and wishing them good luck. I'd continue doing what you feel is right for you.

I try (and fail) to do the same & reply to as many as I can. But I'm been fortunate that more of the follow up responses are "thank you for taking the time to reply".

I know it's disheartening not to have a message responded to and hard for guys having to always being the one who has to put the effort in with messaging, but I guess it's completely up to you about what you feel most comfortable with, no right or wrong. x
