Personaly i am not the type who would make judgements or decisions on someone based on what they do for a living. all jobs cary worth and its unappealing to see someone judged on it. well thats my tupence worth.

Peoples jobs wouldn't put us off meeting anyone as its the people that matter to us rather than what they do for a living. Mind you, Mr did tut at me once for having a meet with a policeman! ms

I wouldn't like to meet a cosmetic surgeon to be honest. I'm sure they'd be thinking "ohh I'd love to nip this, tuck that, reduce this and lengthen that" on seeing me nude

i find it the other way around. My job title sounds far more impressive and interesting than the job actually is, and i've found that some guys, often those in manual jobs, assume that i won't be interested in them and go quiet after we mention what we do. This is such a shame cos if we've chatted that far then i've already decided i'm interested and like previous posters i feel that what we do for a living does not describe who we really are!

I tend not to ask personal details to be honest. I prefer to chat about other things and then get on with 'other things' at home.

I'm really not interested. On the phone I like to natter and banter and just get a feel for the person ....

If their job comes up ......fine..... If i see them a few times I eventually get curious.

And .....sorry .... it is definitely possible ( albeit loosely ) to know the type of job from the person and the fuck anyway. So slap me. I can usually tell what someone isn't ..

I've never asked what anyone does for a living. Sometimes it has come out in conversation, but to be honest I couldn't really give a stuff.

I'm currently unemployed, so being a doley, might put some people off

Good point Jack. Why do people judge the unemployed too ... specially now when there are millions and a huge variety of attitudes amongst them.

Angus & Findhorn

you may be a street cleaner one day and a managing director 4 years later..

you may be a High Court Judge today and homeless 4 years down the line..

life offers up lots of strange dealings, so to judge what someone does today... is bizarre and shortsighted.

in saying that... a few carry more chips on their shoulders than frying in McDonalds today.... and that is usually directed at the rich and successful.

It might put me off, but only in so much as the job I do I need to be discrete and there are certain organisations/professions I come in to contact daily. If somebody worked for one of them I'd be wary purely because if I was subsequently dealing with them on a professional basis it could be weird.

I would never judge someone by what they do though. Seems an odd criteria.

Far be it for me to say some of my fellow forumites are being disingenuous here...but tsk, tsk...stop telling porkies!

Personally if someone was an undertaker it would put me off. My OCD wouldn't allow me to let him touch me I'd be wondering where his hands had been. I'm not convinced generous amounts of Paco Raban would mask the whiff of formaldyde!

I wouldn't meet an actor either: flipping professional liars! Oh Sassy, your the best I've had!

I never ask what people do for a living. Sometimes apres sex the subject gets onto life in general and what people do for a living/hobbies etc, though one guy, after asking Chris what he did for a living, asked him for a job once

I do ask what people do for a living... it's just part of natural conversation. I never ask who they work for or probe deeply, but see nothing wrong with asking as a general over_iew to get to know a person.

I have yet to come across any occupation which put me off of meeting someone.
