I Think I'm Alone Now

No not Tiffany.

I'm grabbing a break in work and I've found a lively spot away from others at the edge of some woodland looming towards the hills and plains.

I'm Alone. On reflection the longest I've ever been alone without seeing a soul is about 6 days. Half the time I was on edge as it was in the proper wilds, but after awhile I really appreciated the solitude.

How about You? Ever been truly alone?

Cairngorms would be my place. Can go for days without seeing a soul.

Also a spot of fishing can work wonders short term.

It's healthy to get away by yourself. Great time to reflect

...but did you feel alone? ..you can be surrounded by people and still feel alone and vise versa x

Good point. No, not in the least, but I was aware of being isolated.

I'm socially selective in any case perfectly happy to be alone as opposed to being with people i dint connect to.

A here.

Worked in East Africa trying to build worker camps in deserts; as the only expat surrounded by nationals, tribesmen and local trades for months on end. Limited or no phone signal - sat phone now and again.

Surrounded by people but really quite lonely.

No beer, no butterfly, lots of stress.

Jung said somethings like, "when you hear the Hom of the world, you are at one and alone".

Takes some doing, even alone you often you find your partner is with you, the taxman, kids, work....

Appreciate the Hom op, doesnt often happen.

Spent just over two weeks in knoydart. Peace. Reflection, nature, mountains, woodland, wildlife.

Never seen anyone other than a fishing boat, passing coast like a week in.

Had many fires, most nights. Walked naked apart from hillwalking boots by day. Danced about fire to music at night. Swam with wild dolphins at bay and watched whales from coast line.

Would have stayed longer but ran low on rations and was not wanting any more food from the sea Never spoke to anyone till day walked back to car.

Wonderful solo break away from people and society.

Ha when got back car. Knew was back in society... had a parking ticket

I so enjoy the "alone" feeling rd cycling a few times a week for up to 5 hrs bliss you just can't beat it

Not totally alone, because we have animals. I rarely go a day without seeing one or more of my children.

If I were ever alone in the countryside I would probably have a melt down and panic.

Out mountain biking on the moors in Devon and not a human soul other than myself as far as the eye could see. And out back in the surf of a beach in south devon on a working week day. That felt weird to not see anyone at all. No life guards even as it was off season too.

I love being alone on my days off work

I don't even put the TV or Radio on

But my kids went away for 2 weeks with their dad on holiday

AND IT WAS HORRENDOUS COMING HOME FROM WORK !!!

I felt sooooo lonely for the first time in 10yrs !!

I even had a Bridget Jones evening 2 days before the kids came home

GOT DRUNK

SINGING SAD NOBODY LOVES ME SONGS !! AND CRIED !!

Awful awful awful !!

Kids are back and I haven't even shouted once about the mess they make and the piles of clothes I need to wash !!

I live alone so being on my own is a pretty common thing.

Sometimes i love it. But other times, especially after I've taken my young un back to his mums it can get a little too much

The whole experience made me not want to come back to parking tickets.

Damn economics and domestic energy.

travel country wide.

I used to truck drive around Europe, before mobile phones, and loved thr solitude of it, could go days without hunan contact on long runs, never seem to get anytime to my self these days

Sounds amazing. Loving the black paste reminds me of Haiti. "You eat this" it looked like animal poo haha

I'd quite happily relocate to the Scottish Highlands in a remote cottage situated next to a loch.

And where i live there are lots of different nature walks and beaches and forestry walks. Love it!
