"Thanks - sorry but total twerp here - dont know what slave drive is or how to move the jumpers on it! Very grateful for idiot proof step by step instructions!" Before getting carried away with slave drives and jumper settings it is more likely it is a single physical drive that has been partitioned as two logical drives "C" and "D" I say likely as all the laptops I've encountered only have space to fit in one drive. So you simply need to save to the "D" drive instead of "C"

"I cant possibly take my laptop to a shop as we are active swingers with cameras! My Dell has two hard discs - one is now full and I keep getting warnings that it is and now cant use Picassa as there is not sufficient memory! Why wont it just use the second drive which is empty? How do I get it to do so? Any help much appreciated!" PC World. Half a terrabyte of USB storage is about fifty quid. Move all your files to that. Then, open the properties of the documents library in Explorer, and Include the folders you want from the USB drive. Option two; if you have a BBC HomeHub it used to be possible to plug a USB disk into the USB socket on the back of the hub. Option three; NAS storage, or a USB disk on a NAS server plugged into your router.... Have I won the techie boring bastard badge yet?

I don't trust cloud based solutions though - good for general work but not for anything confidential.... You still have to back the stuff up a s well...

"Couldn't you just burn all the pics onto a disc (CD/DVD) to clear up hard drive space?" I do this all the time, it's a very good practice, i've had a hard drive go on me recently, good job for backups.
