Just read this on a website

'There are 21,000 reasons why you should get your cat neutered - because that's potentially how many offspring could result from one un-neutered female cat and her descendants in just seven years!'

Makes you think doesn't it. There are even campaigns for cat owners to get there cats Spayed/Neutered is Greater Glasgow, Peterborough & Fens, Newcastle, N Ireland and London.

I used to think it was cruel to chop of a male cats nuts and to deprive a female cat of what nature had intended for her to do which is produce young.. but reading the above statement made me re think.

I never wanted to neuter my cat, i wanted her to have kittens. But it is actually termed as cruel i believe to have an animal thats not breeding go through there monthly cycle and attempt to breed.

In the case of male cats, its pretty aesthetic really, more about them spraying for dominance in an area...and it does smell pretty bad(to us humans)...of course male speying probably also reduces fighting between neighbouring cats.

For male dogs it can take away some aggressiveness, but that also depends on the dogs upbringing really.

There is a free neuturing service in Peterborough. Responsible cat owner gets there cats neutured. Rescue centres are inundated with abandoned kittens.

well when u think of it cutensassy...animals really have the survival instict to breed i suppose...and with the care of humans, we have already altered their lifestyles as to not NEEDING to breed for continuing their existence...but when they find out...i think they might revolt and its a case of planet of the cats n dogs lol

I owned a yorkie some years ago and failed to get her done. Thinking...she wont ever be out and about to get pregnant etc.

Wrong ...as she got older she had problems because i didnt get her done and in the end it killed her because her womb got so infected .

I felt awful after finding out why she died and havent had a dog since,

when i gets me sprout, she gonna be done

My male rabbit is booked in soon.. Will calm him down and make sure he doesnt get to dominant with the other pets

Just got to new male kittens too..and as soon as they are old enough.. off they go..

There is no excuse as its free for those on certain benefits..and hardly expensive really..

She had a thing about women and would attack me if my ex was not in the house at the same time

Neither of my cats are neutered as they are house cats- wish I'd done it though- the screaming, howling and growling every 6 months when they come into season can be heard by my neighbour downstairs!

Both dogs on the other hand are neutered- Bria because I wouldn't want to sell rottie pups where I live- too many dumbass neds, and Bruce because he was really dog-aggressive when I got him from rescue and it's now calmed him to a certain extent.....crikey....long post!

No any age, blue cross /the pdsa will do it cheap if you are on benefits

Yes they can get problems, How would you have feel if sprout died on the table. What problems does removing the hormones cause (bound to be some!). Plus my mate had her red setter done...Unfortunatly it caused inncontenance, shes been on pills for yeas & is soon off to langford for reconstructive surgery.

She was a clean bitch & weeing herself she actually finds distressing

over all i would get it done, but like everything its not all good.

easier to chop nutts off! but iv been told making them androginous can mean extra male attention inc. doggy rape...

Dogs should be done to prevent cancer of testicles later in life .. females should be done because a pio is very serious and they can die as someone said .. especially if it bursts.. cats are far better neutered they dont need to be breeding 3 or 4 times a year they end up having very unhealthy kittens with disabilities . Male cats are very aggressive and fight constantly causing the poor non aggressive cats very nasty injuries and abcesses which the owner of the Tom never pay for. sensible owners neuter their animals when young.

My rottie ( female) got done at 18 months- after her 1st season- she's now 4- no probs, no incontinence, just peace of mind...... the retriever (a rescue) got snipped when he was 5..... mostly because he was aggressive, secondly because he kept trying to ride the rottie.......and she WASN'T havin it! I thought she'd squish him at one point

To all do what u think...fuck conventional aspects and maybe watch some nature programs...u can extrapulate lots...i just done something really cos i was told,,,, im missin wee kittens, im sure like a resposible father id have taken care of them lol

and my cats sitting on my laptopbag saying...well nothing shes a cat u fuckwit
