"yacht varnish - just a thought" See I looked at that. Is one other wooden sex toy bloke in america says he uses water based yacht varnish watered down many times...see is concerns about irritation to body etc Actually from reading...was suprized to read wooden even with a coating is still safer than any other material used in current sex toy industry. Like a lot of the plastic is from china and the poly is contaminated with lead and stuff. Seems could have heeps of fun shaping cocks and dildos haha

"Always liked a bit of carving wood with a knife...back to boy scout days haha.done spoons and salad tongs etc over the years. Just started having a go at wooden dildos Seeing one is just starting out...I've selected willow as an easy wood...so I've shaped with knife.. rubbed down with grades of sandpaper to silky smooth... it looks impressive... looking into coatings and sealings..however not sure what. So my question Does anyone have experience of wooden dildos? Plugs etc? I know can buy them and they pricy...but does anyone actually buy them? " I (Male) used to have a business making wooden sex toys. Mainly paddles and floggers etc, but did research the right way to make the wooden insertables for a future project/business. it's all about the type of varnish, there is one kind that's safe to use.. But you need to let it cure completely.. (dry is not the same as cured) and get some automotive wet n dry paper for sanding, want the finished sand to be over 1000 grit. Hope that helped.

" Yes thank you. I had read quite bit about finishes. And still researching this. It seems you already had the same ideas as I was having on...paddles etc. Why did you stop?...did you move in different direction? Always liked idea of hidden equipment... like a fuck box that looks like a set of draws..but remove the fake draw fronts...and sides and have a fuck box. Have made few boxes and stocks out of pallet wood. U think is $$'s in it? Given you seem to know the market perhaps? Also any thoughts on fixing a drain pipe to top of wooden vaulting box? I'd be thinking women or men sliding up and down an oiled up pipe..hands maybe bound on runners at middle of box...perhaps not explaining well ha...just looks fun on paper sketch

"The safest wood to use is Beech, it contains a natural antiseptic and is a very stable timber which is why it is used for kitchen tools,ie wooden spoons and rolling pins. You can buy the rolling pins from most supermarkets for a pound and as they are already round and 12" long are the perfect shape to work with. I have made several things in the last year from them. Just give them a soak in vegetable oil and it protects them nicely. " i am so going to have a go at this - my hobby for the winter i think

Bought load of off cut lengths and blocks of beech. So good to go for materials The guy in merchants said are some beautiful exotic hardwoods same or better properties than beech for kitchen tools (which is what I said ) however I'd prefer not to be part of rain Forrest destruction That said I doubt the beech used for rolling pins is responsible timber, guess mostly all hardwood is from bad sources Thanks again for info x

"Been working on shaping these odd evenings. Got a couple of finished dildos etc. Anyone know how long should soak in veg oil for? Got one been in a week..is that enough?" Problem with veg oil or olive oil is it will go rancid after a few months. Go for a food safe lemon oil or danish oil which will last, note on the product what oil you have used, these 2 are mostly safe but danish oil is made from tung nut oil so may possibly be a problem to someone with a nut allergy. How long to soak depends on how dry the wood is before you start, but hours not days... it won't penetrate more than a mm or so anyway. Biggest problem with insertable wooden toys is they can get damaged, and if damaged may splinter.
