Strangest thing ever

I've just been standing at my step with the door open putting my bins out and my mum rang me so I stood there chatting on the phone, feel something brushing on my feet to which I thought was my cat. Few seconds later happens again, looks down and there is a baby HEDGEHOG!!

I don't know what to do with it , it's just crawling around my hall!!

It won't bite, but do be aware that babies can't roll up into a protective ball so if you drop it sadly it will splat. So don't carry it too high.

Don't give it milk or bread just put it back outside it'll eat all the slugs for you.

Any fleas it may have can't live on other pets or people so don't worry about that.

You need to scoop it back outside as gently as possible. A cereal box would do.

Oh god I was nearly crying! I scooped it up with two pillows, placed it outside , I just put it on my path , hope it finds its mum the poor mite

Hedgehogs don't bite. They curl up when scared. It shouldn't be alone though. Hopefully it's Mum is outside.

If you're not sure then put it back out inside the cardboard box with some hay or an old towel and it can keep warm hopefully

Hedgehogs don't bite. They curl up when scared. It shouldn't be alone though. Hopefully it's Mum is outside.

If you're not sure then put it back out inside the cardboard box with some hay or an old towel and it can keep warm hopefully "

But babies can't curl. So it could well be in shock, it needs to go out. Quickly, gently and carefully at a low height in transit in case of drops/wriggles.

Oh god I never thought of that ! No they were pic-nic pillows from my car we use when on days out. In the wash now and baby hedgy hopefully has found its momma now

I was mortified contacted the local wildlife trust and they sent someone out but they the time they got here the poor little fella had already passed away

Still feel so bloody guilty about it never took the bins out late at night ever since

No... Don't give it milk. Milk causes hedgehogs to get diarrhea, and with the warm weather it's probably already dehydrated. Leave some water in a bowl if you want to give it something to drink.
