Are you thinking of going in to a relationship with a tv or cd? Why did you choose now to tell them?

Hopefully they will become less judgmental once the shock wears off. It's difficult for some people to understand something that's out of the ordinary for them. If you want them to understand you you will probably have to try and u understand them.

I hope its resolved and your family come to accept you for who you are.

I mean no offence but most people can work it out for themselves and will accept and deal with it in their own time and space. By doing a big presentation, you force them, you put them on the spot and people handle it badly.

I explained why his way of disclosing this was problematic and may have led to the bad reaction.

There's a big difference in announcing what sort of things you like to do sexually and announcing what person you're attracted to and want to be in a relationship with.

Your family will meet the person you decide to spend your life with, they won't know whether you like being smothered in mayonnaise for example when you have sex.

Point is he just announced it. I would be more subtle and gentle about it. It went badly partly because he sprung it on them.

They say "you can't choose your family". I say "you can choose to have nothing to do with them, their loss". It's worked pretty well for me for over thirty years.

Some are not as open minded as others. I would give them time to come to terms with your preference. I will say, just because they don't understand it, does not make you a freak. You have to live your life the way you desire. Try not to let others opinions negatively reflect your life choices. You deserve to be happy
