Just mere curiosity, how many times have you failed your driving test? Had mine today and failed for third time feeling like crap at the moment

BTW fuck that third time is the charm lol.

I do know some people that have failed multiple tests before passing, junk a lot of it is down to nerves

I passed third time, 2 1/2 years ago. I did only have a total of 25 lessons even though it took a few attempts to pass. I wasn't happy about it at the time but I think having the extra lessons (took my first test after 14) made me a much better driver.

Stick with it OP, it will be worth it. Have you considered switching instructor? I failed on reversing around a corner and I just couldn't get the hang of it. I changed instructor and the new one taught me slightly differently. She also put me in for my test at a different test centre. This one had a huge car park and 9 times out of 10 students had to reverse into a parking space instead of being asked to perform any other manoevre. If i didn't have to do the manoevre I struggled with I couldn't fail again for the same thing . As soon as I passed I could do the reverse around a corner - I just had a bit of a mental block on it!

I failed my first test 20 years ago and gave up, then last autumn I decided to have another try.

This time around I had my first test after only about 14 lessons and failed for using the wrong lane on a large roundabout, I realised too late to change lane. Apparently if I'd followed the lane and gone gone the wrong way I would have passed! Second test I failed for making a stupid mistake. Traffic lights on amber and I should have gone through them. Instead I decided to stop and the car crossed the line when the lights were red.

On my third try I relaxed and didn't let the nerves get the better of me. I thought fuck it, if I fail again then I'll just book again. This time I stupidly forgot to put my seatbelt on before I left the test centre. The car beeped at me and I signaled and pulled over. I think I thought I'd blown it so just got on with enjoying the drive. I passed! That was 7 weeks ago

It's taken some time to get used to my car, she stalls very easily. Oh and reversing onto our drive can be tricky but I'm getting better at it all the time.

Hubby passed his in 1998 at age 17 on his second attempt.

Don't worry OP, I passed first time, didn't drive for a few years as I didn't have a car, tried again 2 years ago and I broke down during a lesson!

Driving is not for me, so internet shopping, buses and taxi's for me all the way

I passed on my 3rd time! First time nerves went to pieces and I didn't even attempt my reverse round the corner, mind went blank so he failed me from the start. Second time my driving instructor made me have a panic attack minutes before my test cos he shouted at me on the lesson just before my test so I did my test in tears and couldn't breath! Third one was after my ex said if I didn't pass my test he wasn't going to pick me up anymore! I passed then!

Took me three tries to pass.

I can't even remember the first I was so scared.

The second one I had an argument with the test examiner, because I disagreed with his decision

The third was with the same examiner as the first and I was strangely chilled. Passed easily.

my motorcycle test was a short notice cancelation offer a week after turning 17 and i breezed it ... but to be fair the old style bike test was nothing like it is now

i wasn't really bothered about cars but took two attempts at that then bought a bedford RL army truck for £200

It took me three attempts to pass the 'L' test but I passed the IAM Advanced Driving test on first attempt just 7 years later - 21 years ago

As stupid as it sounds just try not to think about it, maybe try a different time of day too. I only passed a year ago and kept taking afternoon tests, then my last test I took a morning one so o didn't haven't time to think about it and I was less stressed. I passed third time, you'll get there eventually and failing can only count towards experience X

I had to do the theory twice too. Was it the hazard perception bit you just missed?

I failed that. Next time I just randomly clicked a few extra times and passed it. I think the hazard perception part is useless.

Yeah I got full marks on the actual theory and on the hazard perception failed by 1 point. I was raging. Sat it again and passed.

So ended up spending £50 just to do my theory

Failed 5 times (24 years ago) My dad paid for them tho....think he wanted me to pass more than me lol just stick at it....you'll pass eventually and in a few years you'll wonder what all the fuss was about x

Ditto... I failed quite a few times in total. Hated learning as a teenager in a manual. But learnt in an automatic 18 months ago and now love it. But nervous did get the better of me so it took a few attempts.

Second attempt for me... I'd be cunning and time your test for the beginning of rush hour and hope for standing traffic!

Or take it in another town that's smaller so it's quieter.
