So you are out with some friends and acquaintances and one of them starts spouting bullshit. You know it’s bullshit and a few others know it’s bullshit. The bullshit could be about their job, financial situation, home life, whatever…. you just know they are making crap up for the sake of their mouth having a reason to move and mislead their audience.

lol this brings back some funny memories of a friend of mine (ex best mate) i used to think she was a compulsive liar.

At the begining i just let her ramble on, if she wanted to 'big herself up' that was her choice. Me and other friends of our just used to make little jokes out of it to her afterwards.. especially if she was talking to someone new

It got out of hand when she pretended to have a child to someone just so she could play the sympathy card.

Normally I would just let the bullshit fly over my head and put up with it just to be polite really until I find an excuse to walk away,some people are so insecure they feel they have to behave in a certain way that they seem to think will impress others

One time I just could'nt as what this person was saying was directly involved with where I work

I just could'nt stop myself from saying you are talking complete and utter bullshit,the person tried to carry on but I kept saying bullshit everytime they tried to defend what they had said,in the end Rob led me away

Ive never done anything like that before or since

lol, I've got a mate we call "Pilot Light" because he never goes out, but whenever we asked him what he'd been up to, he's always out shagging "some hot babe", his words.

We used to live in the same row of houses and his car never left the drive, and this bloke never ever walked anywhere

One of my best m8s is real bad for this, he will tell me things like the time he went to glastonbury, when I know for a fact he never, and he knows, that I know, that hes lying. the way he looks at me is like, sorry m8 I crnt help it. and then you ask him questions like, who did you see, and it's so awkward watching him lie. he knows he does it, we all call him the story topper, I think it's a actuall mental condition, compulsive lying.

If you are friends having different views if i think a good thing.At the weekend i was at a picnic with creationists...we have had some fab debates

People who make up stuff to win an argument is a different matter. It seems common in politics, and certain newspapers dont help, misinformation needs to be challenged.

A lot of the time people make stuff up because they want to appear more interesting than they actually are. Think as long as what they say isn't harming anyone like ' what did you do at tbe weekend?' - oh Friday night I shagged a couple of girls who used to be in baywatch then sat flew over to walk up mt everest naked with a Weetabix stuck between my arse cheeks ( for charity!) then had a quiet one Sunday before back to work Monday as a masked crusader against injustice!!

i think it must be to cover up insecurities and lack of self esteem so i would never pull them up on it i would jjst feel mean no idea hoe to change things for them though other than trying to include them in things so they won't feel the need to do it so much i guess

I tend to let it drift over my head tbh. If I'm in a pub and someone I don't know is blethering on about something that I know to be false I'll refrain from telling him he's talking shite unless directly asked for my opinion.

With people I know I'm more inclined to not say anything unless it directly affects me. I know someone else will call their bluff so I don't need to.

I look to see who else is smirking and wink at them. Reaction wise well i most likely will ignore it as i don’t like confrontation. Think......lol well i tend to label them as a dreamer if i am being polite that day but more often a wanker or something worse.

I know someone who tells everyone she is a nurse when in fact she is an auxillary

It could have so been dangerous as while on holiday someone was having a heart attack and she didnt have a clue and pretended she hadnt got her glasses and that she couldnt attend to anyone on her hols. thankfully the guy recovered but no thanks to her lies

The best thing to do is agree or if they're making something up that they've done, say 'yes, i remember you doing that' or 'i saw you in that restaurant with that gorgeous babe' etc etc - that sooooo confuses them they can't say 'no you didn't' as that would give the game away! Z

used to have a 'mate' when I was at school, used to call him STB, the thought it was because of a sports shirt he used to wear that happened to have those initials on it but it was his name S The Bullshitter. Doubt he ever found out unless he is on here and reads this lol
