Richard Hammond luckiest unluckiest guy?

So he crashed again...big time.

https://youtu.be/18oAkxwYQh0

Old news but I only just found out yesterday, the video looked terrifying and images even worse!

Makes me wonder if his driving license should be revoked considering he's not only a danger to himself but also to other people.

I guess he pushes it to the edge of his driving ability for the thrills, but that's at least 3 major accidents now isn't it? I hope for his and his families sake that's the last one!

I wouldn't say he's unlucky, well he is, but he is driving 200mph cars to their limits, unfotunately accidents are going to happen, I think it's actually great that he's still doing it though, going through what he has and still have the passion for driving cars is amazing

There are a lot of people who've been less lucky that weren't taking calculated risks ....

Why should his license be revoked? Both crashes have never been under normal driving conditions. They have both been under controlled situations either on racetracks or closed roads.

He is if he carries on in our opinion. His family should come first now, but we know everyone is different.

It's more important to live well than die old, I don't get this obsession everyone seems to have with living to old age in favour of having fun and making the most of every minute you are gifted, old age sucks in most cases, if by some miracle he makes it to the nursing home at least he'll have some great stories to tell the others of the Shackltons High Seat inner circle while they wait for Death

Do you think any of the houses in that video were evacuated for the shoot?

I'm not so sure about that, and one of those houses was in a straight line trajectory, they even said themselves that he was lucky to miss that house.

Cars like that should not be tested to its limits on regular roads, you can clearly see how easily it went wrong.

Only because he's a famous celebrity doesn't mean he should be able to put other lives in danger.

I'm glad he's okay and I like him but this is pushing it a little too far in my opinion.

Thank god someone else thinks so, everyone I meet thinks I'm weird when I say that. I reckon he'd be a right little deviant too

I am by no means advocating to live safely, I am just saying he might be putting other lives in jeopardy doing what he does.

I love adrenaline myself and have done some risky things as a result but I make sure no one is around to suffer the consequences if something does go wrong.

Disagree. But I think he has to be honest with himself regarding where his limits are and his skill level, whether his abilities/reflexes are in decline.

I don't think Hammond is putting anyone else in danger but I do think he needs to be stronger and say no when his gut tells him to. Watching the interview, he didn't want to do another run, the production team pushed him to do it again and he had a feeling he was pushing his luck. I've done the same thing a few times, pushing through that niggle in your head that tells you enough is enough and it always ends badly.

Doubt very much there would have been anyone allowed to stay in those houses while shooting was taking place for security reasons.

not checked the video to see if its the one at the hill climb a few weeks ago. If so.. he should have already been slowed down.

I do hope people don't stop enjoying motorsport. Look at Billy monger. Horrific accident and already desperate to get back behind the wheel competitively.

Hammond is actually quite respected from driving point of view. The accident with the jet car was a flukey accident but also a jet car. So totally different.

There are still investigations going on into the latest one as the corner he came off at was after the finish line.

Have a look for the interview that he's done with Mate Rivac - who set up the comapny that built the car that Hammond binned.

the road concerned was closed for a regular hi speed hillclimb competition that has been held from the early 1920s in various forms i summise the owners/occupiers of said property and others surrounding it know full well whats going on outside thier front door and act accordingly

It seems that many have the impression that he is being reckless / gung ho etc, but, seriously, take a look at the interview.

They take all sorts of precautions, and mitigate against all possibilities should an accident ever happen.

Saying he should pack it in is pretty much the same as saying that any Racing Driver should throw in the towel if he ever has a knock.
